Your pets count on you to keep them feeling their best, and one of the most important ways to do that is by scheduling regular wellness checks with your veterinarian. Here's why these visits matter:

📋 Stay Up-to-Date on Vaccinations
Vaccinations protect your pets (and others) from diseases like rabies, distemper, and more. Wellness checks are the perfect time to ensure their shots are current.

🦷 Dental Health Matters
Did you know dental disease is one of the most common health issues in pets? Routine checks help protect those pearly whites and prevent discomfort.

📅 When Was Your Pet's Last Checkup?
If it’s been over a year, it might be time to schedule a visit. Your pet deserves the best care—and peace of mind for you is priceless.

❄️ Snow Much Fun with Your Furry Friends! 🐾

Winter is here, and it's the perfect time to enjoy some pet-friendly fun in the snow! Whether you have a playful pup or a curious kitty who loves an adventure, here are a few ideas to make the most of this snowy season:

Take your pup on a snowy trail hike—don’t forget their coat and booties for extra warmth and protection.

Set up a snowball fetch game. Your dog will love chasing (and catching!) fluffy snowballs.

Scoop some snow into a shallow bin and bring it indoors for your cat to investigate. Sprinkle some catnip or hide small toys for added fun!
📸 Don’t Forget the Photos!

🌟 Stay safe, bundle up, and remember to dry off those paws after playtime.

MONROE TOWNSHIP PUBLIC WORKS – SNOW REMOVAL GUIDELINES
Our Public Works Department is working hard to make driving safer and easier in snowy weather. Depending on the duration and amount of snowfall, township trucks may plow your street several times. As snow rolls off our plows, it will accumulate in driveways. Please understand that this is unavoidable and it is the homeowner’s responsibility to clear it. Here are some helpful hints to make “snow” business less frustrating:

Shovel snow to the right side of your driveway (facing the street) to minimize the amount of snow entering your driveway.
If possible, wait until the township trucks have made at least two passes on your street before clearing your driveway.

DO NOT Shovel and/or blow snow into the street.

DO NOT PARK cars on the street from one hour after the snow has continuously fallen until 12 hours after the snow has stopped. This speeds the removal process and prevents cars from being plowed in.

To ensure the safety of pedestrians, residents must remove snow from sidewalks following a snowfall. Please remember that children are walking to school and bus stops are all over town.

249-1 Time limits for removal of snow, ice, sand, dirt, and other material. The owner or owners, tenant or tenants of lands abutting or bordering upon any of the public avenues or highways of the Township of Monroe shall remove or cause to be removed from the sidewalks and to the width of one foot out of the gutters in front of or bordering on their said lands all snow and ice within 10 hours of daylight after the same shall be formed or fall thereon and any sand, dirt or other material or collection of materials forming an obstruction or constituting an impediment thereon within 10 hours of daylight after the same shall have formed, collected or been created thereon.
In the event of deep snow, please shovel around your mailbox and fire hydrants near your house – for your safety and your neighbors’.

Not all roads in Monroe Township are maintained by the township. During bad weather, we often receive calls from our residents about the condition of roads whose maintenance is the responsibility of Gloucester County. We’re happy to relay your concerns, but if you would like to contact the Gloucester County Highway Department directly, please call (856) 307-6400. Here is a list of County maintained roads:
Bluebell Rd. (Bike trail to Malaga Rd)
Berlin Crosskeys Rd.

New Brooklyn Rd. (BHP to Malaga)
Pitman Downer Rd.

Final Call Snow Forecast

You can drive yourself crazy tweaking these things and still never be happy with the forecast. My confidence level with this storm is about 80%. It's all gonna come down to how far north the precip gets, that's it. There's no secret ingredient here.

Don't just look at the higher number and say "yeah! That's it. I'm getting 8"!!" and then be upset when you end up with 5". There are ranges for a reason - there are many variables at play here so we give a cushion.

The one thing that I am 100% confident of is this: The heaviest snow and therefore the highest totals will be to the SOUTH. Southern Salem, Cumberland and Cape May counties should make out pretty well. Plowable snow possible in those locations.

IF the precip shield is healthy (it should be helped by the winds off the ocean), then we may extend that plowable snow chance into Gloucester and Atlantic counties as well.

No matter what, I'm sure there will be folks out there not happy with the forecast. I can't control that. I can control my methodology and reasoning behind why I put these numbers together though.

Snow arrives overnight, it overspreads the area by tomorrow morning and then wraps up totally later in the day.

If we indeed see the transfer of energy from the main low to a coastal low, the emergence of a DRY SLOT is possible which is ALWAYS the wildcard in these storms. Dry air works in and eats away at the snow thus lowering snowfall totals. I've seen it happen many times.

Supposing everything goes "well", below is what you can expect. We will keep covering timing and impacts through the day and I'll do a live tonight after the game to get everyone on the same page.

With cold weather coming in, don't forget to keep your pets warm and safe! ❄️☃️🌬 Remember to only use pet-safe salt chemicals for your sidewalks and driveways! This prevents injury and pain to their paws.

- Ensure you have enough pet food, treats, and fresh water. If your pet requires medications, refill any prescriptions in advance.

- Provide extra blankets, a cozy bed, or heating pads (pet-safe, low-heat) for pets sensitive to cold.

- Bring outdoor pets inside or provide a safe, insulated shelter with bedding and protection from wind and snow.

HRRR North!!

Good news if you’re a snow lover. Does the rest of this Evening’s model runs follow suit? Time will tell but this would be a plowable snow for many more than just extreme southern NJ.

Don’t get hopes up just yet, but this is something that is a positive development…

⚠️ It's the law in New Jersey! Remember to remove all ice and snow from your vehicle before driving, especially from the hood, windows, roof, and lights. ⚖️

🔸 Drive slow (at or below the posted speed limit) and adjust your speed for the changing road conditions.

🔸 Turn on your headlights, using low beams when traveling in snow.

🔸 Increase your following distance. In winter weather, travel at least eight to 10 seconds behind the car in front of you.

🔸 Give snowplows plenty of room to work. Don’t tailgate and try not to pass. If you must pass, take extreme caution in doing so. Remember, a snowplow operator’s field of vision is restricted. You may see him, but they don’t always see you.

🔸 If you skid, don’t brake or accelerate. Remove your foot from the gas, and gently steer your car in the direction of the skid (the direction the rear of your vehicle is sliding.) When your car starts heading in the desired direction, carefully straighten the wheel.

🔸 Slow down before exiting the highway. Exit ramps often have icy patches, sharp curves and stalled or stopped vehicles.

🔸 Have a personal safety kit easily accessible in your vehicle that includes: an ice scraper/brush; shovel; jumper cables or battery starter; blanket; sand, salt or kitty litter for traction; lock de-icer; flashlight and new batteries; extra windshield wiper fluid; safety flares/warning device; cell phone with spare battery; water and non-perishable food (i.e., granola or protein bars); and paper towels or a cloth.

🔸 If your vehicle does become disabled, pull off the road as far as possible and turn on your emergency flashers. Remain with your vehicle until help arrives. If you can’t get your vehicle off the road and are uncertain about your safety, do not stay in your vehicle or stand behind it. Proceed carefully to a safe location away from traffic.

Storm Threats for Today

This is not a major deal. Let me be clear about that. At most, if we see some overperformance, there could be some isolated areas that see 2-3"... that will NOT be for everyone. Less the farther north you go, more to the south.

Snow arrives around 4pm give or take.

Icy roads is a HIGH concern given overnight lows will drop into the 30s. In areas that see the squalls and have the snow stick, there will be ice on the roads. That's just a given. Again, the bigger risk comes farther south.

This is NOT a tidal flooding storm.
