Saving Hope Animal Rescue

Saving Hope Animal Rescue Saving Hope Animal Rescue is a group committed to giving animals a chance at a happy life. We are completely volunteer and donation based. Who is Hope?

Saving Hope Animal Rescue began through necessity, and now provides medical and foster care for animals in need of a second chance. Hope is our mascot, a beautiful Rottweiler whose story was the inspiration for this group. What is Hope's story? While out with a girlfriend one day (a fellow foster mom and dog trainer), the horrible fate of a rottweiler was brought to our attention. We had just take

n in another foster dog the day before, and weren't planning on taking in another yet. But her story touched us. The rottweiler was about to die - her owner was moving, and planned to dump her in the woods because they didn't want to pay a surrender fee at a shelter. The rottie was already suffering, and wouldn't be able to survive if left alone. When we went to pick her up the next morning, we realized that her situation was even more critical than we had imagined. The rottie had spend all 8 years of her life on a heavy 3 foot chain, tied to the bottom rung of a basement staircase, left alone in the dark. She was severely malnourished, being attacked by another dog the family owned (not chained up), and lacked any sort of medical care. Without medical care, she was completely lacking any sort of vaccinations, hadn't been fixed, and had a UTI. She was also found to have skin tags and growths under her skin all over her body. Although we were told she had a name, it seemed no one had spoken to her using it, so we renamed her "Hope." When she arrived to her foster home (at Saving Hope headquarters), she was filthy, starving, and had no idea what human affection and companionship was. She was immediately taken to the vet to be immunized and have her UTI treated. Fast forward a month later - Hope has gained 6 pounds (under vet supervision) through a diet of dog food and healthy veggies her foster mom makes her (sweet potatoes, green beans, rice). She visits the dog park, and romps around a large fenced yard with her 2 brothers and her foster sister. Her favorite activity is cuddling with her foster parents, finally knowing that she is safe and loved.
