Owning and operating an equestrian center isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s hard. Very hard some days. Horses aren’t machines, yet we rely heavily on them to operate on a daily basis. People leave their horses (which are really just giant 4-legged children) with us and trust they’ll be cared for despite those creatures’ efforts to harm each other, themselves, or the property at any given moment all in the name of “fun”. We take our job caring for the horses and teaching riders how to ride seriously and are truly in this for the love of these amazing animals. Along the way, we get to interact with some pretty amazing humans as well. These beautiful pictures of some of our dear lesson horses and loved personal horses were gifted by the clients we lovingly refer to as our “barn family”.

So while some days are very hard running a business that is truly a labor of love, there are more days like today where people (and the horses!) show up and give reminders why a place like Timber Grove needs to exist. Find your tribe, give til it hurts a little, show compassion and love, and I truly believe things work out how they should. Thank you to TG’s barn family for being the best there is.

Timber Grove Christmas Party! What a fun night gathering, eating, secret Santa-ing, and gaming. Such a beautiful sight to see so many of these amazing people all together. We are blessed beyond measure with a barn family that is inviting, inclusive, kind, and supportive. Merry Christmas to all from everyone at TG! 🎅🏽🎁💚❤️

Sometimes things happen just the way they’re supposed to. This amazing horse, known at the barn as Jett, and one of our awesome students, Paisley, just clicked. He boosts her confidence, she trusts him to take care of her, and they are blossoming into a dynamic duo. So what do you do when you fall in love with a lesson horse? You buy it and dress him up with alllllll the bonnets. Lucky for TG, Jett will stick around AND continue his job as a beloved lesson horse for our program. Congrats Pye family on this special guy!

As a barn owner and subsequently lesson horse owner, few things touch my heart more than seeing students of all ages learn to understand how noble, forgiving, tolerant, and kind lesson horses need to be. This beautiful sonnet was written by one of our adult students, Heather Manly.

I’m an unvarnished lesson horse.
I’ll never win with jumps or speed,
Yet for technique I am the source,
Like ABCs before you read.

I’ll never call one person mine.
I claim a dozen moppet girls.
I give them confidence to shine.
I number them as some do pearls.

And they’ll out grow me one by one,
For horses of impressive breed.
They’ll win bright ribbons in the sun,
And I’ll help the next child succeed.

They’ll love their own horse as should
be
But none will love them more than
me.

There is no horse like your first horse❤️ A very special Congratulations 🎉 to Charlotte Blackburn on her new best friend, Boudreaux — but you can call him Boo! You know he’s a keeper when he smiles even in bows and hoof polish😆!

Charlotte’s dedication, ability to adapt and overcome adversities, and perhaps most importantly her love for ALL horses and riding, are only a few of the qualities we see in Charlotte that will make her a terrific partner for Boo. The sky is the limit🏆❤️!

A great day for our girls at the Greater Houston Hunter Jumper Association show at Haras Sports, pulling great ribbons in some full classes!

Emmy Vaclaw & CR Cayenne took Reserve Champion in the 2’6 Itty Bitty Jumpers out of 17 riders❤️💛🤍

Victoria Jersey & Jett had a first, two 2nds and a 4th out of 9 in the walk/trot division, competing in Victoria’s second show ever!💙❤️🤍

Abby Boudousquie & Bling had a blue ribbon finish in their first show off property in Leadline! Lead by her momma Anne💙

Grace Bush & Gunner had fun their first off property show together in crossrails B with two 2nds and a 3rd out of 7❤️❤️💛

Weslee Holmes & Gunner debut at Haras together in crossrails A with a 2nd in the flat, 3rd and 6th over fences!

Charlotte Blackburn & Bling rode in their first show as partners in walk/trot taking four 5ths (we are obsessed with the pink ribbons)🎀🩷

Brooklyn Terry made her Haras debut with Jett taking 4th in one of her crossrails A classes out of 10!🤍

Savannah Garner & Starboy also had a place of 4th in the crossrail A section!🤍

Another busy weekend for the Timber Grove IEA team. Our high school team took reserve champion and we’re so proud of all the girls and the hard work they’re putting in each and every week! Thank you Blue Fox Farms for hosting. Ready for the next one👏🏼👏🏼

Congrats to Emma and the Bridgman family! Such a great feeling finding good matches for horses and riders. Echo has been a barn favorite here at TG and it was time for him to have a kid all of his own. We’re so happy for this pair 🥰🥰

We had a great show at Haras this Saturday. Two riders were there for their first time and two moved up in divisions! All the riders showed great sportsmanship, walked away with some wins, and improvements to work on. Super proud of these girls and their efforts!

We ended the week with a show at #haras 🤗. Our riders and horses were fantastic. ⭐️ Victoria and Shiner at walk/trot for their first show. ⭐️ Charlotte and Ameena back at it for walk/trot. ⭐️ Weslee and Shiner together at a show for the first time in crossrails. ⭐️ Emmy and Fity for a first together in crossrails. ⭐️ Emmy and Izzy advanced up to short stirrup and brought home grand champion. ⭐️ Clare and Elvis had their first show together in Green as Grass division and also brought home grand champion. Way to go, team Timber Grove!
