This has been an unusually long tick season for this general area. It started in mid April and we are still seeing ticks in some areas. The bravecto chews that we prescribe and sell last for about 12 weeks. Monthly topicals or monthly oral products might be appropriate for some dogs at this time (as the bravecto may be at or near the end of its’ 12 week effectiveness).

With the expected upcoming heat please keep in mind the effects on pets. Old and brachycephalic (short nosed) dogs are among the highest risk. Any walks should probably occur early in the mornings. Another thing that can happen is burning dogs by trying to cool them off with water standing in a hose exposed to high temperatures. If you want to use a hose to cool down your dog please check the water temperature before directing it at your furry friend.

5 days until the 4th of July! Here is your reminder to call in and get calming medication for your pets if they will get anxious with the upcoming fireworks.
We will be open Monday-Wednesday next week and open back up on Friday. Make sure to call to get calming medication for your furry friends before Thursday!

Tick season is here- today we got reports of 3 separate tick sightings- near Tioga, Springbrook, and Culbertson. With the distances between sightings and the warm weather it’s safe to say- they’re out. We have plenty of bravecto on hand.

Introducing a new option for those of you who are considering neutering their male dogs. This is something that we feel can reduce the apprehension for our clients and the loss of of normal appearance for patients.

We’re stocking bravecto again this year. It’s a chew for adult dogs that kills ticks and fleas and it lasts for 12 weeks. Usually it’s best given in late April or early May in this area for ticks. We also carry a one month version for dogs under 6 months old and a topical product for cats. We’ll keep you updated when we first hear of or see ticks for the season.
