Alright folks, Announcement time! đ
Other taxidermists have warned me about this and I made it for a good long time without having to go this route, but moving forward I will be requiring PAYMENT IN FULL when I pull your bird out to mount it.
I take a lot longer to mount a bird than your average commercial taxidermist. I spend hours preening, hours prepping and painting. I use eye rings. I tan my birds. I cast a lot of my own bird heads. If someone, after waiting over a year and a half, bugging me the whole way about it being done or not, suddenly doesnât have the funds to pick it up when itâs done, that screws me over. It screws my other clients over that have been waiting patiently in line that pick up their birds and pay for them when they are done. I would rather reward those clients and get their birds done first. Moving forward, if I contact you and you are ready to pay, your bird will be done. If you are not ready, your bird will get bumped down the list as is fair.
Also, I will have a one month grace period for picking up your bird. if itâs still not picked up after a month, I will charge $20 a week until it is. (out of town clients or those with prior arrangements, this doesnât apply to you)
I do understand that stuff happens in life, especially financially, and Iâm not do***ng on people if they suddenly canât afford to pay for their mount. This is simply a measure to protect me, my sanity, my other clients, and my super small house from becoming a bird museum.
My times are taking quite a bit longer. I want to enjoy being with my family. I want to spend time with my hobbies and interests. I am a one person show. I am doing chemo. Im doing fine cancer wise now but that could change at any time and i could tank.
My birds are split into a bunch of parts and processes that take different lengths of time. I cannot turn and burn five birds in a week. I donât do this to maximize profits or make a living. I do this as an art form. If you have a bird with me and things are taking longer than youâd like, iâll give you your deposit back and you can take it to someone who is set up to get birds done faster than me. (though most of the good taxidermists I know arenât much faster or are further out than me.)
If you are patient with me I will treat you well and make you happy.
If you really must have your bird now, you can pay 40% the cost of your mount extra and I will pull it out and start on it tomorrow. Otherwise, be patient. I donât want to spend the however many years I have left having anxiety over first world problems.
After christmas I will reach out to all my clients individually and touch base. Most of my interactions with everyone are fantastic, and I canât say enough how thankful I am for your respect for me and my process.
Happy holidays! đŠśđŠśđŠśđŠś
