She is finally here! Moxie has had some stumbling blocks in her way but thanks to her amazing breeder who has done everything in her power to get this filly the things she needed to make it, she has made it to Missouri. Moxie was bred and raised by Dani Johnson and is the prettiest, smoothest filly. I know I have the prettiest horse now, and can prove it! Moxie is also a granddaughter of my Dee so it makes her extra special. Can you tell we are a bit smitten? Contact Dani if you are looking for your keeper.

All five spring foals are weaned now. Blue is getting manner lessons turned out with a bred mare or two. Nice ride today in the cooler weather.

Spent the morning watching a pro at work. Ed keeps our herd's teeth in great shape and is a blast to visit with. Ed's assistant has the kind quiet touch that can take him far if he pursues a life in horses one day.

Indy's foal was practicing the fox trot today.

Here is Dally (first trail ride, 2 time she has moved with a rider up, first time we have saddled her)at the end of our 2 mile loop. She is responding to him asking her to move over using just his legs. We start teaching them to be soft and responsive from ride one. This will allow us to be able to ask for shoulders/hips easily to have a light horse. (He is pointing for me to know when he is asking). Dally was the typical green horse that wanted to fight pressure.

Many people have training videos out there that show ways to communicate. Many of which are lots and lots of ground work. Ground work is important and is a big part of creating a soft horse. Where we differ, is that we do a lot of it on the trail. Gary got off the trail to look at a tree we have found mushrooms at before. Dally is a 3 yr old, this is her first trail ride and our first time saddling her. It is the second time she has moved with a person on her back. (She had some saddling and was backed by previous owner this past summer)
