Stability is the key for all thing reef related. This 70 gallon system was overheating on warm days and Ca and Alk levels along with the pH we’re drifting as well. The solution? We replaced the glass covers with screens and installed silent fans in the canopy to remove heat and allow for better gas exchange. The new dosing system will add Aquaforest Components 123 to keep water chemistry in check. Take that!

This is the reef system in Beverly Farms that we rescued a few months back during the power outage. It is currently thriving and the fish and corals are healthy as could be. We’ve been servicing the system routinely every other week and adding new livestock as we go.

Basement filter system looking neat and clean. Reverse osmosis with freshwater and saltwater storage containers underneath. Filter sump with all equipment including sock, skimmer, UV and bio filter. Organized power center for all electrical. If the system is organized and efficient and safe, it’s enjoyable to do maintenance. If the maintenance is done on schedule, the system will be healthy and the animals will thrive.

Generator is running and full system has power. Looks like we got there just in time. Water temperature had dropped about 15° but is gradually climbing now. Animals seemed lethargic but OK. Will be back first thing in the morning to check everything.
