It’s National Poinsettia Day! These festive blooms may add holiday cheer, but they’re a big no-no for pets.

Here are some more:
🚫Holly and mistletoe – Beautiful but can cause upset tummies or worse.
🚫 Tinsel and ribbons – Irresistible to play with, but dangerous if swallowed.
🚫 Candles and potpourri – Can irritate sensitive noses or lead to burns and tummy trouble.
🚫 Holiday leftovers – Fatty foods, bones, or anything heavily seasoned can cause serious issues.
🚫 Salt-dough ornaments – They look like a fun snack to pets but can be toxic due to high salt content.

Keep your holiday joyful and your pet healthy and happy! 🐕🐈 Share this with a fellow pet parent to spread the holiday safety cheer. 🎁❤️

Who’s loving this recent chilly weather we've been having in Wilmington? ❄️🐾

Here are a few winter tips from the Pine Valley team:

👉 Limit outdoor time. If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them—especially small, short-haired, or senior pets.
👉 Wipe those paws! Salt and de-icing chemicals can irritate their paw pads or be toxic if licked.
👉 Bundle up. Sweaters or coats aren’t just cute—they can help keep your pup warm on chilly walks!
👉 Keep them cozy indoors. Make sure they have warm bedding and a draft-free spot to relax.
👉 Watch for signs of cold stress. Shivering, whining, or trying to burrow could mean your pet is too cold.

🐶🐱 Stay warm, PVAH family! We’re always here to help keep your pets safe and healthy. Call us if you have any questions!

We know those puppy-dog eyes and curious whiskers are hard to resist, but not all Thanksgiving treats are safe for your pets! Foods like turkey skin, onions, chocolate, and even dough can cause serious health issues like pancreatitis, bloating, or poisoning.

Tip: Keep your pet safe by offering pet-specific treats instead of table scraps, and always dispose of leftovers like turkey bones and wrappers in a secured trash can.

Let’s keep our fur babies healthy and happy this holiday season! If you have questions or concerns, give us a call—we’re here to help! 🐾

Let’s Talk About Glaucoma in Dogs 👁️ 👅 👁️

Glaucoma is a serious eye condition in dogs caused by high pressure in the eye, which can lead to pain and even vision loss if left untreated. Early detection is key to managing it effectively!

Watch for these signs:
→Redness or cloudiness
→Squinting or keeping an eye closed
→Pawing at the eye
→Enlarged or dilated pupils

Certain breeds are more prone to glaucoma, so regular eye exams are especially important. Catching it early can make a big difference for your dog’s comfort and vision!
