Short little snippet of an owner update for Whiskey today! I'm a big fan of utilizing play as a reward event in training, but most of the time *proper play* needs to be taught. In this I was working on teaching Whiskey how to really love the game of tug, be interactive/cooperative, and stay tuned into the game, while also teaching boundaries and how to "turn it off". Over time, this will help us work through some dog reactivity and make obedience training that much more fun! 🙌🏼

Duff was such a fun pup to train! 🤩
Duff competed puppy training with @dogtrainerangelica when he was about 12 weeks old, and then came back to us for some off leash training once he hit six months! This once uncontrollable, bubbling-over lab puppy has now become a well-mannered and distinguished gentleman. 🎓

Quick session with my personal dog, Vecna, working on a new skill 🧠⚙️
I'm teaching her to come around my body into a heel versus flipping into it from the front, which she has done successfully for over a year. You can see she tries to jump straight to my left side the first few reps (by habit), but she starts slowly understanding the desired behavior through my subtle physical feedback & marking the micro behaviors within the transition. 🤌🏼
When teaching a new version of a known (& well rehearsed) skill, I like to use a reward that's incredibly high value to the dog so I can create the ignition and drive I'm looking for, which for Vec, is this here one-handed wedge. 🧨

Turnover lesson with Milo and Sailor 🐾
We had a great turnover session with Milo, Sailor, and the rest of the Brisson gang. 🙌🏼
Milo and Sailor completed an extensive Board and Train program with us to learn obedience and boundaries; at their turnover lesson, we worked on transitioning them back into the home with their housemate and Alpha-Dog, Captain. Captain had been through training with another trainer a few years back, so he had a decent understanding of the expectations. 🐩
