Sandy Paws Animal Hospital

Sandy Paws Animal Hospital Your local family veterinarian. Located in Monkey Junction, in beautiful Wilmington, NC. Welcome! Your pet is not a dollar sign. Your pet is FAMILY.
(10)

Here at Sandy Paws we are taking on the corporate animal hospitals and taking back our community. Your pet is definitely not an uptick on a stock price. We’re here, we see you and we definitely hear you. The cost of medical care for your pet has become OUTRAGEOUS. Not because of inflation, not because of the economy, but because of corporate greed. Full stop, that’s not how we do business here. We

are here to serve Wilmington with three main objectives:

–To take immaculate care of your pets, obviously!

–To uplift our community with fun events, educational opportunities and outreach intervention for those who are in need.

–To ensure a livable wage for our office staff (the lifeblood of any animal hospital) and to continue to raise awareness for the initiative. You will see us around at local community events. We’ll be there to support your kid’s fundraising efforts. We will be your first line of support when your fur baby needs it the most. Join us on this journey in bringing Mom & Pop Shops back to Wilmington. We can’t wait to welcome you to our paw-some family.

😻Up for adoption!!😻
Meet Savannah! She is a 9 year old sweet girl. Unfortunately, her owner can no longer care for her due to medical reasons. Her owner has asked for our help in finding her a new fuurrrever home. Savannah loves affection and cuddling. She is described as a lap cat and prefers a home without dogs. If you’re interested in meeting her give us a call 💓

Let's shine the spotlight on our newest Vet Assistant (VA), Sydney! Their pronouns are they/them. You may recognize their bright and warm smile, as they started as a receptionist when we opened and are currently being trained as a VA. They have a passion for learning and are super excited to start learning more about radiology and phlebotomy! Make sure to give a warm hello to Sydney when you see them! 🐾🐶🐱

It fills our cup to help our community. This sweet girl was our second emergency surgery of the week. We worked through lunch and stayed late to add her into our surgery schedule. Another client who had no idea dropped pizza off for the team right at lunch time. Thank you so much! We knew we’d love helping our community. We had no idea how you’d care for us in return 💓💓

When I say we have the best clients I absolutely mean it. Today we performed surgery on a dog to remove a ball he had swallowed that became stuck. An emergency surgery is a very unexpected cost. Another client sitting in the lobby with their dog asked to put $500 towards that dog’s surgery. They didn’t know the owner had been in the hospital herself the week before. A random act of kindness that warmed all of our hearts.😻🐶

*URGENT HELP NEEDED* The local animal shelters and foster facilities in the Asheville area are managing an OVERWHELMING influx of pets following the damages from Hurricane Helene. Sandy Paws Animal Hospital is coordinating a pet supply collection effort here at the hospital to aid these pet-driven first responders.

We invite the donations of food, toys, leashes, collars, litter and other beneficial items here at Sandy Paws, located at 4629 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington 28412. These items will be transported via rented U-Haul truck to western North Carolina as soon as there is a safe way in.

Having roots tied directly to Lake Lure and Asheville, we're seeing personal SOS updates on our newsfeed from people still stuck in their homes, with posts being updated on an hourly basis. We fear this situation will get far worse before it gets better and we want to do everything in our power to get up there with supplies as soon as humanly possible.

We know times are hard right now and people here are still recovering from our most recent storm. Any small item will help, even that old tattered blanket sitting in the garage you've been meaning to get rid of. Thank you all and we appreciate you.

"September 11th motivates me to live a better life. The way I can honor those we lost and those who were injured is to live a fruitful life. To be an example to others that September 11th did not destroy us." - Will Jimeno, New Jersey Police
