My neighbor’s wind chimes make for a great training aid while doing place and socialization training ❤️
Place training is one of my favorite steps in our training methodology. Teaching your dog “place” is one of our first priorities! It helps establish clear communication with your dog, build report/engagement, and helps your trainer learn your dog’s specific traits and drives very quickly.
Every dog learns differently. They’re each their own little Rubik’s cubes that have to be unlocked to progress to the next step.
Watch til the end for baby Mowgli🥹
Hey friends!
It’s getting hot out there! Make sure you’re keeping an eye on your canine companions, and watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
-Cut their exercise time in half and slowly work them back up to their previous thresholds. It’s easy to over do it as summer approaches.
-Recognize the differences between controlled and uncontrolled panting. A simple test is holding up your dog’s favorite toy. If they can close their mouth and focus on the toy, this is controlled panting. Uncontrolled panting is a sign of heat exhaustion/stroke
-Always have water and a means for your dog to drink said water when out and about!
If you would like a copy of our WARM WEATHER CARE GUIDE, dm your email. This care guide covers all of these tips, body temperature guidelines for your dog, how to take their temperature, and how best to treat heat exhaustion.
Always consult your Veterinarian for best practices!
Couldn’t be happier with Reef’s progress so far!
He learns so quickly and is very eager to train. His leash manners have come a long way, but also note his improved response to hearing dogs barking in the distance.
Reef’s reactivity is one of our biggest overall goals. This is part of the process and no small step. We have two weeks left together and I can’t wait to see how far we get!
Quick snippet from a little obedience session with Tigo!
Have you trained your dog yet today? Their skills are perishable so you need to keep up on it! Make it fun and go somewhere new. Challenge yourself and challenge your dog. You’ll see lots of progression in their skills and a huge increase in your confidence in their abilities.
Now get out there and have fun with it!
“I’d love your help with our dog, but you only train those big scary ones”
NOPE….. all pet dogs of every shape and size are welcome here😎
Did you know it only takes 11 seconds to teach your dog “place”? #realtime
What do you think Layla is dreaming about during this “long stay” training session?
Had a fun training session with Ms. Ava this morning, and a special thank you goes to our Assistant Trainer, Tigo!
When Ava came to us a few weeks ago, she was incredibly dog reactive. If she saw another dog within a 30-40 yard bubble of her, she couldn’t focus on anything else, was extremely anxious, and certainly let you know it.
By adding value to the handler with fun engagement drills, she has now learned that it’s more positive to engage with the handler/disengage from the dog, rather than react/bark/whine towards another dog.
Here’s a throw back for Tigo Tuesday!
The balance beam was always one of Tigo’s favorite tasks and even now, he tackles it like a pro.
Introducing: Tigo Tuesdays!
Every Tuesday I will be posting videos/pictures of Tigo content. Posts will vary between obedience, bite work, and his time as an active military Multi Purpose Canine!
This first video shows one of our early sessions of laser imprinting. We taught Tigo to follow a laser to a specific point to do any of the disciplines he has been taught (bite, explosive detection, and tracking)
Swipe right to also see Tigo absolutely DEMOLISH me during silent whistle recall training 😂😂😂
Both videos and training are credited to @tuck_4273 from @northgeorgiak9. Chris is a good friend and phenomenal trainer!!
