This Sunday, get ready for Part 3 of our highly anticipated ⭐️ 2025 Pet Food Review ⭐️! Our in-depth reviews are packed with the insights you need, to choose the best pet food brand🐾 of 2025, no matter your budget!💸

This time, our expert panel—including veterinary nutritionists, pet food formulators, and industry professionals—will be diving into the top-selling freeze-dried foods❄️, along with popular canned foods🥫 and toppers🥄 for dogs and cats from brands like Primal, Open Farm, Bixbi, Instinct, Acana, and more.

Whether you use freeze-dried food🧊 as a complete meal, topper, or training treat🦮, we’ll guide you through what to look for to make the best choice for your pet. Make informed decisions and choose the right freeze-dried products with confidence!

Did you know that freeze-dried pet food, toppers and treats can be prone to rancidity, especially once the fats are exposed to oxygen?

Chicken🐓, in particular, has more fragile fats that can spoil quickly. This is something to be aware of, especially if you live in hot or humid climates. Proper storage is key — be sure to keep freeze-dried products tightly sealed in a cool, dry place and consider buying smaller bags to use up chicken-based foods more quickly...before it goes bad.

Join us Live this Sunday at 12pm EST for the third episode of our 2025 Pet Food Review series in the Inside Scoop!

Plus, there’s even more to come! We’ll be reviewing the most popular raw pet food brands in the upcoming weeks. And if you missed it, be sure to check out our previous episode where we reviewed dry food brands — it's all available for you to watch!

Are you still boosting your pets every year?💉

Check out my latest interview with immunology professor Dr. Laurie Larson about why antibody titers provide a safer and more scientific approach than automatically giving your pet additional boosters.

Antibody titer testing confirms whether a pet is protected against common infectious diseases without continuing unnecessary (and ineffective) boosters. This science-backed approach challenges the outdated one-size-fits-all schedule that assumes annual or even triennial boosters are needed for every pet. Instead, titer testing provides precise information about whether a pet is still immune, allowing for a more tailored and safer approach to customized wellness medicine.

Did you know?
📌 93% of humans have glyphosate (a toxic herbicide) in their urine, averaging 0.5 PPB.
But your dog? 🐾 A shocking 15.8 PPB on average—the highest of any animal.

And it doesn’t stop there:

Glyphosate in Food
✅ The "safe" limit for human food is 17 PPB.
🥩 Kibble averages 200–700 PPB.
🍖 Raw food? Just 5 PPB.

Why the difference? Many fruits, veggies, and grains in kibble are sprayed with toxic pesticides before they even make it to your dog’s bowl.

You can help your dog thrive by choosing foods free from glyphosate and harmful chemicals. 🌿 Because what’s good for them is good for the planet too. 💚

Sorry, MCT talk was last Sunday. Tomorrow she is discussing pet food! I’ve watched her prior talks on foods and they are incredible! She does fresher foods at another date to come.

With changes in pet food regulations, new formulations, repeated recalls and company buyouts shaping the pet food landscape, it’s more important than ever to know how to choose the right brand for your dog.

This Monday, we're kicking off our highly anticipated 2025 Pet Food Review to give you the tools you need to pick the best pet food for 2025, no matter your budget. Whether you're feeding a high-end kibble or a more affordable option, we'll help you navigate the ever-evolving market and ensure your pup gets the nutrition they deserve.

Veterinary nutritionists, pet food formulators and industry experts are joining us to take an in-depth look at top-selling dry dog foods. We’re covering everything from budget-friendly brands to premium and veterinary prescription options. But here's the catch: Top-selling doesn’t always mean top-quality.
We’re reviewing over a dozen dry and air-dried dog foods, including brands like Farmina, Purina Pro Plan, Open Farm, Blue Buffalo, Acana, and more. We'll also cover:

⭐️ How to evaluate kibble and identify top-quality ingredients
🐶 Are feeding recommendations making your dog overweight?
🔎 Do companies' claims hold up under scrutiny?
🏭 The impact of formulation changes, regulatory shifts, and company acquisitions on pet food quality

Plus, stay tuned because in the coming months, we’ll be reviewing gently cooked, freeze-dried, and fresh pet foods as well. There’s a lot to cover, but we’re here to help you make informed decisions that fit both your dog’s needs and your budget.

We hope you'll join Monday, Jan.20th at 11:30am EST live on the Inside Scoop! (edit to new time)

Sorry! This was last week. I love MCT oil for seizures and cognitive decline. If you subscribe to her site, you can still watch!

New Study – “MCTs from the diet have been investigated as nutritional solutions for disorders such as epilepsy, canine myxomatous mitral valve disease, and cognitive decline due to aging. […]

We find that dietary MCTs rewire both the metabolome and the lipidome of the serum, which has the capacity to influence organ function. While the impact of MCT supplementation has been investigated as a therapeutic option for diseases such as cognitive decline, the results of our work suggest that dietary MCTs may also have other beneficial effects on the general health of dogs.“

Join Dr. Karen Becker & Rodney Habib live at 12pm EST on the Inside Scoop as we discuss:

🥥 Safely adding MCT oil to your pet's diet
🦴 Using chondroitin sulfate to support joint health in dogs and cats
💊 Two essential supplements for pets on antibiotics

Our Story

I am Nicolle Rubendall and I am a veterinarian. I graduated from Iowa State University in 2002. I practiced small animal medicine in a Chicago suburb for about 10 years. I studied Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine over the course of a year and became certified in VCHM in 2011. I then attended the Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy course at the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Wisconsin. It was an intense 230 hour course in small animal and equine chiropractic. I became certified in VSMT in 2012. I have also become certified in Veterinary Acupuncture through the Chi Institute in 2017. I'm providing a Spinal Manipulation/animal chiropractic, Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine consult service to the Wilmington area. My goal to travel to the local veterinary clinics and/or to the clients' homes to provide this service. Here is a summary of indications for both types of medicine: Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy/Animal Chiropractic Subluxations or misalignments of the spinal bones/joints and extremities damage or irritate the nervous system causing body malfunction. If left untreated, this can lead to injuries or issues with the body where the nerves travel. Common issues that VSMT can assist with include: Disc Disease Muscle weakness/atrophy Early Degenerative myelopathy and other neuro diseases Lameness Sport Injuries Post surgery - post dentals, ACL’s, etc. Incontinence – urinary and f***l Enhance performance Slow to rise/arthritis Behavior – head shaking/withdrawn Lick granulomas Jaw/chewing issues Chronic internal medicine issues Chinese Herbal Medicine/Veterinary Acupuncture In western medicine, there is typically a “go to” medication for a particular disease or condition. However, in Chinese Herbal medicine, there can be several. One formula can treat several conditions. And with one condition, there may be several options of formulas. It requires an extensive history to determine the best option. Here is a list of indications for using herbs and acupuncture: Kidney/Urinary Issues – incontinence, inflammatory kidney diseases, renal failure, chronic UTI’s, bladder stones, blocked cats Gastrointestinal – chronic Clostridial infections, chronic diarrhea, chronic vomiting, early morning vomiters, excessive belching, flatulence, pancreatitis, megaesophagus Eye issues – KCS (dry eye), periocular dermatitis, glaucoma, red eye Liver disease –unexplained high liver values, cholangiohepatitis, intra hepatic porto-systemic shunts Musculoskeletal – arthritis, disc disease, neck pain, etc. Autoimmune diseases – Pemphigus, hemolytic anemia, low platelet counts, Lupus, Glomerulonephritis, etc. Lyme’s disease, Splenomegaly, post vaccine reactions, reverse sneezing, not gaining weight or thriving, All types of cancers – oral squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, mast cell tumors, osteosarcoma, lymphoma, etc Dermatology – interdigital cysts, chronic skin infections, allergies, chronic ear infections, a**l gland issues Neurology– seizures Behavior – aggression, fearful, urine spraying, cognition issues Endocrine – help manage Cushing’s, hypothyroidism, diabetes, Addison’s, hyperthyroidism Cardio/Pulmonary diseases – pneumonia, asthma, Bordetella, chronic rhinitis, reverse sneezing, coughing
