Mission Statement: Helping our community help animals. Our long-term goal is to reduce pet homelessness in New Hanover county, and surrounding communities.

We are a 501c3, community outreach that works to support and create bridges between local animal rescues and community members who are trying to help animals in need. We will accomplish this goal by, working with individuals in our community, as well as other community non-profits to help keep pets in their current home. We will primarily focus our efforts on companion animals, but will spread awareness of issues impacting wildlife.

Did you know that during Spring & Summer, squirrels gather extra nuts & bury the surplus in preparation for cooler weather? They store it in the area surrounding their nests, splitting it into different underground pantries to save for later. Youve probably seen them getting ready.

www.wilmingtonanimalcentrix.org Meet WAC!! Wilmington Animal Centrix was founded for the purpose to help people help animals in our community. Due to the nature of rescue, we noticed the hard working rescues and shelters weren’t able to address the needs that might prevent future rescues. There is just not enough time, money, and or resources to do it all. As prior rescue volunteers, our founders found themselves thinking, how could we prevent unwanted puppies and kittens? How could we make sure more animals were returned to their owners? How could we prevent that pet from needing rescue in the first place? After many phone calls, and planning meetings, WAC was born! We are a non-rescue group, that provides spay and neuter vouchers for individuals in our community, microchipping programs, rescue foster support, and various educational programs. Wilmington Animal Centrix is a bridge between animals in need and our community members and organizations that help these animals. One way we accomplish this is through assisting rescues by hosting fostering events and some of our awesome members are also fosters themselves. Melissa Leath has been fostering for several years now and has worked with two local cat rescues. She is currently fostering Faith and Hope for Operation Topcat. Yay Melissa!
