It's not too late to add this adorable senior to your family just in time for Halloween dress up. And you can see from the pictures Edgar will enjoy dress up just as much as you.
Edgar is an adoptable senior chihuahua mix who started his life at the Pets: Wake County Animal Center until a rescue partner, .rescue, brought him into their program. He is about 10 years old, and weighs 12lbs.
Edgar is the epitome of a lap dog- he always wants to be cuddled on or next to his people. He’ll gingerly paw at you for more scratches since he’s very affectionate and slightly demanding. In addition to cuddling, he’s also passionate about food. Peanut butter is his love language. Edgar is equally happy with or without other dogs around- he doesn’t care as long as you’re there. While Edgar can go on short walks, he’d much rather be carried than walk. When he’s decided he’s done walking he just sits and stares until he’s lifted.
Edgar is potty trained and crate trained, and he’s generally nondestructive. While he’s quiet most of the time, he does bark if he hears something out outside, and he excited barks/squeals when his people come home- it’s adorable. He also barks if you leave him in a room and he wants you to come back and pick him up (re: slightly demanding).
Since coming into Freedom Ride Rescue, Edgar got much needed veterinary care and is now neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and had 19 teeth removed in a dental procedure. He has luxating patellas in both knees, which shouldn’t require additional care, but he sometimes gets wobbly and he needs to be carried up and down stairs.
Edgar is looking for his forever home to spend the rest of his golden years. More information on Edgar and the adoption process is available at https://www.freedom-ride.org/
Remember, Edgar does not live at the shelter. Make sure you visit Freedom Ride Rescue to meet him.
