Eliza is just one of those dogs that can just calmly hang out anywhere, including an urgent care vet that we've never been to before. (This would be a much different video/picture with my other pup Zelda).
Eliza was diagnosed with a pretty nasty UTI😭
But take note...
Why it's important to notice any sudden behavior changes & to seek medical attention when necessary

Last night Eliza kept waking both myself and Stephen up so she could go outside. (That's not like her at all). I woke up this morning, and found 3 p*e accidents in our bedroom.. now that's something that NEVER HAPPENS.
Later on in the afternoon I found another little p*e accident in the kitchen; okay, let's go outside...
Follow Eliza around, she squats to p*e and there it is...blood.
Yep, probably a UTI, those are 😖 painful 😖
We immediately got in the car and headed to EVS Urgent Care.
We were in & out (about an hour) and Eliza won't be uncomfortable going into the weekend.

A punishment is a stimulus that occurs during or immediately after a behavior that results in a decreased likelihood of that specific behavior occurring again in the future. There are two types of punishment, positive and negative punishment. (Remember: in learning principles, the terms positive and negative are mathematical, not emotional valence.) Positive punishment is when you add something aversive in order to decrease the likelihood of that behavior occurring again. On the other hand, negative punishment is removing or taking away something the animal wants in order to decrease the probability of that behavior occurring again.

An example of positive punishment is an older dog growling or snapping at a puppy when the puppy is playing too roughly. The puppy will learn that if he plays too roughly with this specific dog, something unpleasant, or potentially harmful will occur. Therefore, the puppy (hopefully) will be less likely to play roughly with this specific dog in the future.

An example of negative punishment is calling your dog to you at the dog park and once they come back to you, you clip on the leash and leave. You might be thinking, “how is this negative punishment?”. So, let’s break it down. Taking the dog out of the park removes the dog’s chance to continue to play and explore. Therefore, you will be punishing the dog’s recall and the dog will be less likely to come back to you next time.

Keep in mind that the animal determines what is actually punishing. So if the puppy continues to play roughly with the older dog, or maybe even ramps up its energy level, then the puppy does not perceive the growling/snapping as punishing. Similarly, owners may not understand why their dog continues to jump on them when they yell at the dog and push it roughly off. If the dog continues to jump in future encounters, it tells us that the dog does not find this attempt at reprimand actually punishing.

Prices for my in home boarding program will increase for the 2025 business year.
Don't panic it's only going up by $5.00 😂
Rates/per night will be $70.00
Taxi service options for boarding clients will still be available at no additional charge (for now). I've been absorbing the gasoline costs for awhile.. as long as our gas prices remain within reason, there will be no increase in the taxi service.

If you do not want your dog to become a frustrated greeter with humans or other dogs, all you have to do is follow this one rule...

Repeat it 5x while looking into a mirror...
"I will NOT allow my dog to meet every person or dog when we are out in public"
And the reason behind this is because.... Why??
That's right, because you don't want your dog to focus all their attention elsewhere other than right on you!
Meeting unknown dogs for 2-3 minutes is NOT socializing. Rather it's building a unwanted behavior chain between your dog and unknown humans/dogs.
It's just not worth it!
Leashes confine your dog, not many owners know how to read and understand what's happening between dogs.
If it goes south, it can change your dog's behavior.
Not worth it!

Please make sure you're giving your pup enough hydration!!!!
Did you know that our dogs and cats require at least 60% moisture in their food. Dry kibble only provides about 6-10% - feeding a little wet food or raw can help increase your pups moisture in their diet. Even adding water or bone broth can help!
Also, Our animals need access to fresh water everyday! Do not hoard their water and only give rations. That will not be a healthy option for your pup.
