Several have asked about the sire of the July 24th litter we have been posting pictures of. Here he is! Stonewall Aquarius Braxton. We traveled to Connecticut to connect them (see what I did there?) and it was absolutely worth the trip! Braxton is a healthy, handsome, yellow English Lab with a calm demeanor. Trying to describe how Aila Jean wants so badly to be with her babies, and simultaneously struggles to manage their feeding now that they are larger and all have full sets of teeth is so challenging I decided to take a short video of tonight’s feeding. I respect and appreciate her willingness to subject herself to their toothy suckling in order to make sure their needs are met. She’s such a good Mama. ❤️❤️❤️

So remember when I mentioned some are getting up off their bellies and walking? Well, red did it first on day 7, but this afternoon I caught White doing it on video. 😍😍😍

Week 2 is off to a great start. The puppies continue to grow, some more than tripling their birth weight! In addition to spending most of their time eating and sleeping like they are in these photos, some are now occasionally pulling their bellies all the way off the floor and taking steps. It is so cool! Puppy cuddles are the best.

We took some time last week to bury the rainbow puppies. The rain began falling as we filled the hole and scattered flowers. When the fall comes and the rock has dried a little more, we will paint paw prints on the side. ❤️❤️❤️

Week 1 was a bit of a blur with sweet puppies nursing every 90 minutes or so and Aila recovering beautifully from her cesarean. 4 males and 4 females have been climbing on and snuggling into one another as Aila watches, cleans them, and lets them climb on and snuggle into her, too. It was a precious and exhausting week, with healthy gains for each puppy and happy healing for Mama. ❤️

They have arrived!!! Aila Jean began laboring on Tuesday morning and on Wednesday she delivered all of her puppies safely, thanks to the amazing folks at Ross Corner Animal Wellness Center in Shapleigh, ME. Aila Jean is an amazing mama and is taking to her new role beautifully. 4 males and 4 females. More pictures and videos to come as I get a little more sleep! ❤️❤️❤️
