I am very thankful for this very special horse Havanna Jack. I was very fortunate to have this very special boy come into my life. I have known him for many years and I have always known he was a gem. He is gorgeous inside and out. He is worth double his weight in gold. Patient and kind this reliable gentleman touches everyone’s heart that knows him. I love him very much and every time I see one of my students ride him or spend time with him it makes my heart happy. Jack is happy and joyful and this boy is very loved by many.

I am so thankful for this girl. Bonnie aka Blueisthenewblack has taught me so much in the time that we have been together. I am very fortunate and blessed to have wonderful people in my life who helped bring me and this beautiful girl together. Kristin .hardin thank you for pairing me and Bonnie together. You have bred some truly amazing horses and I am very honored and flattered that you have trusted me with several of them. Bonnie is truly special. She is beautiful, not just in looks but in spirit also. She brings me so much joy and happiness. I am very grateful for every day I get to spend riding, showing, and just spending time with her. It’s been a wonderful year getting to know her better and I am looking forward to all of the adventures in the future together with this special girl I get to call mine.

I think Jack wears this better than I do! He’s the BEST and such a good sport when it comes to having some fun. I’m excited for next week where this guy will be teaching Kenzie the ropes at her first show!!!! So much love and appreciation for this guy. He’s a real unicorn

This morning my grandfather passed away. He lived a very long and full life. He was 101 years old. He was a war veteran, a civil engineer and an advocate for animals. He dedicated a large part of his time after he retired to fostering animals and volunteering for the SPCA. He was very well traveled and saw much of the world. I will miss our laughs and his whit. Thank you Gramps for everything you did for me growing up and especially all the guidance and support when I was in my early 20s. You helped me in more ways than I could tell you while you were here. I love you

Today I received the most beautiful gift from an incredible young lady who I am blessed to have as my student. Emie Crain is an incredibly talented and extraordinary young athlete, artist, and student. I am impressed with her abilities on and off the horses. She is such an amazing girl and I am so proud of her. Thank you for this absolutely beautiful portrait of Bonnie. It captures her perfectly and I will cherish it forever. Thank you sweet girl. ♥️

I’m so happy to have this awesome horse Havanna Jack in my program. He’s the best teacher and just pleasant to have in the barn. Honest sweet and reliable. I am so happy for McKenzie that she gets to half lease this awesome boy. They’re going to their first show together soon and I am so excited to watch them together in the ring.

The Tevis 100 mile ride is a grueling and exhausting challenge for both horse and rider. That being stated when you cross the finish line it is an incredible feeling of achievement and accomplishment. It’s been 10 years since my last Tevis in 2014. Good Luck to all the horses and riders entered in the 2024 Tevis. May you all have a safe and successful journey.

Evening before first day of showing and so far it’s been an awesome trip. Riding Bonnie on the beach to celebrate the life of Kristin Hardin’s mother was a perfect day. She was so brave and had a wonderful time cantering through the waves and the sand. Tonight it’s a quiet night on the beach for me watching the waves and reflecting on life. I am blessed to have two lovely horses to show here in Santa Barbara.

Hunter/Jumper Trainer

Sharon began her riding career with a pony that her parents bought for her at age two. At age ten she began riding hunters and jumpers. Not long after she began showing she developed a special love for the jumper arena. Her parents decided it was time to invest in a jumper type horse that she could show. They bought her a running quarter horse named Bootlegger Beau. Together they won multiple championships on the A circuit, SAHJA awards, and Nor Cal championships. In her early twenties Sharon moved to San Diego and was able to ride under top Grand Prix trainers. Sharon was also fortunate enough to ride under notorious clinicians such as Linda Allen, Richard Spooner, and Bernie Traurig. After riding on the show circuit in Southern California Sharon decided she wanted to try another avenue of equestrian sports and turned her interest to Endurance Riding. She was hired on at an endurance breeders facility to start the young prospects under saddle. Sharon loved the new challenges and education that endurance riding brought to the table and entered the Western States Tevis Cup 100 mile endurance ride in 2013 and finished.

Today, Sharon Schmidt Training focuses primarily on her first love of competition in the show ring. She has brought many students success in competitions, and has paired students up with horses that together make winning teams. At Sharon Schmidt training she not only teaches riding fundamentals and how to be successful with your horse, she also teaches her students to have good sportsmanship and what being on a team is all about.
