Meet Pepper (Dr. Fahy's current foster dog). This super sweet pup was found as a stray on the streets of TX. She ended up in a high kill shelter but luckily for her she was pulled by Shaggy Dog rescue. She has now made her way to CT and is looking for her forever home! Pepper is very smart and affectionate and just loves her human. She is so well behaved and can be left at home with no worries as she is completely housebroken and not at all destructive. She has a fairly laid back personality and her favorite things are relaxing on the couch snuggled up to a person or lounging on the grass out in the sunshine. She loves her foster sibling (Minnie) but they don't really play. Pepper can be a little unsure when meeting new people but is very easily won over with a quick treat. Her only challenge is she can be a little reactive towards other dogs when out walking on a leash- but she is working on this with plenty of treats! Pepper is 30 lbs, unknown age (est of 4-6 yrs), spayed, fully vaccinated, and has a microchip. Please spread the word and help find her the most perfect forever home that she deserves!

She has been enjoying coming to work with Dr. Fahy and would be happy to meet prospective adopters.

We kept our snapping turtle hatchling, Mr. Snappy Pants, with us for a few days to see if any others hatched. So far, he’s the lone survivor. Since snapper hatchlings instinctively head straight for the water after emerging, we knew it was time to set him free to live the good life. One of our wonderful clients volunteered the pond behind her house, and it turned out to be idyllic. Best wishes for a long and healthy life little guy!

While we love and treat all species at SWVG, today we celebrate NATIONAL DOG DAY! Feel free to share pictures or videos of the dogs that have captured your ♥️ This is our Practice Manager’s dog “Periwinkle” (aka Stinky Winky)

Sabrina and Sprinkles are still waiting for their forever home....hopefully together💕 These two girls are so sweet, gentle, and adorable together. Both of them actually came from Shaggy Dog Rescue, based IN Houston. Thankfully, these two cuties made it out safely before Hurricane Harvey hit. As we all know, so many other animals were not that lucky. We'll be collecting monetary donations at the SWVG, in the form of cash, checks, debit or credit cards, and 100% of the proceeds will be split between the Shaggy Dog Rescue and Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward. Both rescues are based in Houston, and were severaly impacted by the flooding. Their work is only just beginning. Please join us in helping them raise the funds they so desperately need to help the animals of Houston. And please stop by SWVG to meet these two girls. Dr. Fahy is their foster mom and would love to tell you all about them. You can also contact [email protected] and find applications for adoption at houstonshaggydogrescue.org. In the coming weeks and months, there will be hundreds, if not thousands, of dogs needing foster homes. The sooner we find a forever home for these two loves, the sooner Dr. Fahy can take on more fosters! And if you're considering becoming a foster yourself, she'd love to talk to you about the process.
