Do you remember the fun birthday party for Elliott? Well, Vinny turned the big 1 so it was party time again. Happy B-day Vinny man.

We have been hiding a little secret. Well, it’s time to introduce you to Elliott and Vinny. They came to us after their mothers couldn’t provide them the care they needed. Our wonderful carestaff stepped up with providing multiple feedings throughout the evening for months on end, special shoutout to Erin our sanctuary manager who went above and beyond to give them the care they needed. Fast forward to a few days ago and guess who is 1 year old. Happy Birthday Elliot.

This past weekend we were able to host the University of Illinois Pre-Vet Club. They enjoyed a guided tour of the sanctuary and wet labs by Dr. Bolton, Dr. Darbyshire and sanctuary manager Erin Roberts. Throughout the day they learned how our veterinarians and staff provide care to over 150 retirees.

Everyone loved seeing Mira in her hammock. We could always use more especially with additional retirees arriving next month. How many can we get? And of course Mira will sharel (much to her disappointment) ☹️

What does Mira do when its cold and windy outside? She gets comfy, if she fits then she sits. 📷: Sanctuary manager Erin

When you speak of the queen of the baboons who do you think of? Well Babbles of course!!! A few days ago she celebrated her 37 th birthday and 9 years in retirement. The staff pulled together a fabulous party with streamers and a delicious cookie from the bakery. We are truly blessed with being able to care for her and we know we will have her for many more.

Our new macaque area is coming along nicely. This new facility will provide retirement to 40 additional retirees, with it being already 3/4 full it may be time to start another. In the last 9 years we have welcomed over 25 facilities into our primate retirement family and with this new area we will add a few more. We are blessed to help primates on their journey “From Research to Retirement”
