Did you know?

The most common parasites of adult horses cause very little stress on the nutritional status of a horse. Just because a horse looks good from the outside, it does not mean it should not to be checked for internal parasites—as a matter of fact, it is not uncommon for the horse with the best coat and highest body condition score in the herd to also have the highest F***l Egg Count (FEC)!

If your horse has access to pasture, you should assume the animal is exposed to parasites. This spring, talk with your veterinarian to establish a dewormer plan tailored to your horse’s situation that includes at least 1-2 dewormer treatments per year and FEC examinations to monitor treatment efficacy and parasite egg shedding status of individual horses.

Starting January 1st the new FDA regulations roll out. Medication for livstock will be changing. A currently vpr will be required (available though your veterinarian) for any medicated feed/feed though product. Products that may have been available over the counter will no longer be available with out a scipt. A full list is available on the FDA website popular medications such as Tyoslin (tylan), oxytetracycline, neomycin are going to script form. Please be aware plan ahead as needed (this included medicated chick feeds/lamb etc)

Posting for someone.. They have a horse in orange and was diagnosised with a twisted bowel. Horse is on Dana Rd. If they can't get a ride to tufts they will be putting the horse down but wanted to see if anyone could trailer. They have cash for time and fuel...any one can help pm me and I can pass the info on. Sorry I don't know them but was just asked if I knew anyone..

So many folks have been asking a lot about wormers (worming too much worming too little, fighting worms in general) Do you know what you have for worms? Thought testing was too much? For the the next month I will run a f***l special for ten dollars you can find out what you have for worms and approiate worming protocal. All I need is a small sample. For those with goats/cows/sheep etc you can get a single sample (mix a few from a cental location). If you are local you are more then welcome to get a sample kit from me or if you are at the fairs let me know and I can bring some with me. Find out what you have at the farm verses fighting what you dont need to.

A few folks have been asking so posting info here... (Please no debates this is just for information only).... Mass has an emergency order (it has been like this for years nothing new with that-the emergency just allows enforcement). All sheep and goats must have a perminant ID. They can either be Tattooed (many goats folks prefer this method) or you can use Scrapie tags. Scrapie tags are provided free of charge (there are smaller type tags aviable for a fee) along with a applicator. If you have been trying to get the tags and can not get though the number you need is 508-363-2270 ask for GAIL. Even though the location is in massachusetts she provides the tags for New England.

Its almost spring and bugs will be here soon. Do u need to order fly predators. Interested in cutting down your flys let me know. I do have order forms for them. Work fantastic! no need for fly sprays
