Duck-duck-goose; Dog trainer style... Juat a simple way to show the dogs an unpredictable picture that is dynamic and constantly changing. All while trainers and talking, joking, talking trash and moving with stimulus objects all around, other dogs on place and other dogs training on the perimeter.
Simple but highly complex but super simple, yet often overlooked. A great neutrality and stability builder.

At Ridgeside K9, we believe that how you do something is how you do everything when it comes to dog training. Every moment is a chance to shape behavior, build trust, and reinforce the bond between you and your dog.
Every door becomes a door drill, teaching patience and impulse control. Every activity—whether it’s a walk, playtime, or feeding—can include behavioral components that strengthen both new and known skills.
Success in dog training is about consistency and seizing every opportunity to guide and reinforce positive behavior. Don’t overlook the small wins—they pave the way for long-term success.
Visit RidgesideK9.com to explore training programs that help you maximize every moment with your dog.
Two Golden Retriever puppies on deck to start service dog prep or possibly adventure dog training.
Different needs require different tasks for different people. Never assume without knowing the end goal!
Hard work works everytime... Let's go!!

Focus on ur basics! Show the basics. Perfect the basics. Repeat the basics. Enforce the basics. Train through every "basic picture" you can think to show the dog.
Magic happens when "basic" if perfected.

If You’re Not Cleaning, You’re Not Dog Training
Dog training isn’t just about posting cool videos of dogs doing fancy heel work or crushing an obstacle course like they’re auditioning for America’s Got Talent: Dog Edition. Nope, the real work is the stuff that never makes it to Instagram—the glamour of cleaning up the kind of mess that makes you question your life choices. It’s scrubbing p*e off walls (how did it even get there?), power-washing kennels that look like crime scenes, and pleading with a dog to eat the gourmet chicken-and-rice dinner you made while they stare at you like you served them roadkill. You’re not just a dog trainer; you’re a janitor, a chef, and a part-time hostage negotiator trying to convince a 90-pound Malinois that, no, bath time isn’t a government conspiracy.
And the dogs? Oh, they’ll keep you humble. You’ve got the one who won’t eat, won’t take a treat, and stares at you like you insulted their ancestors. Then there’s the one that thinks toys are a scam and being pet is a form of punishment. Add in hot spots, kennel cough, and the occasional dog who decides mid-training that they’d rather roll in something unspeakable, and you’ve got yourself a day. But here’s the kicker—this is dog training. It’s not all cool tricks and picture-perfect moments. It’s dealing with the chaos, the dirt, and the endless fur tumbleweeds, knowing that every mess you clean and every meltdown you endure is what actually makes the magic happen. So grab that mop and own it—you’re basically the unsung superhero of the dog world.
Never over complicate dog training. Stick to the basics and magic will happen. Remember that every complicated task often starts with the simple lure.
Neutrality and stability FAR outweigh obedience.
Get back to the basics. Perfect the 10-foot heel before trying to heel around the neighborhood. Establish that all good things happen in your presence. Correct when needed, reinforce OFTEN, focus on body language & facial communication along with your visual and verbal cues.
"The more you talk, the more you confuse. The less you talk, the more you communicate, " Aaron Taylor.
