Little Luis wants you to know that the goat dairy industry, the fastest growing type of animal agriculture in the US, is just as cruel as the cattle dairy industry. The baby goats, called kids, are killed after they are born (especially the males) and the females are constantly kept pregnant to keep milk production; they have their horns burned off without pain management with a device that can cause brain damage and as many more goats can be kept in an area than cattle, frequently overcrowded. Say no to goat dairy, we're not kidding!

Elvis has left the building...
for the fields!
Rescued from a cruelty case in Montgomery Maryland where he was starving, he has been happy and healthy here at PFS for many years. Gentle and friendly, you'd have no idea the horrors he's experienced in the past interacting with him since he's healed from his physical and emotional trauma after rehabilitation. That's the power of kindness, forgiveness and determination! It's so incredibly inspiring to see him flourish and know that no matter what trials you may go through, healing and growth are always possible!

Science tells us that sheep can remember 50 faces and experience emotions like happiness, fear, sadness and boredom. When not feeling well, sheep will self medicate by intentionally eating plants that aid in the ailment they're experiencing.

We're sad to share over the weekend, Fred the turkey passed away suddenly. A member of our PFS official welcoming committee, he'd have celebrated his 4 year rescue-versary tomorrow. Rescued from a farm in NY as part of a rescue partnership with our friends at Farm Sanctuary, Fred came to PFS in 2012 along with Ricky, Lucy and Ethel(RIP). You may remember a couple years ago when Fred underwent extensive medical care after tearing a huge hole in his chest himself. After weeks of exhaustive care we were elated that he survived, healed and continued to flourish. After cremation he will join fellow turkeys Kisses, Bruce, Mondo, Ethel, Bunny and others as part of the PFS forever flock. It truly was an honor and a privilege to connect and get to know Fred and give him the gift of life for 4 years. RIP Fred.
