Vegan farmed animal sanctuary in the Shenandoah Valley of VA operating as tikkun olam. PFS is incorporated as a nonprofit and a silver rated 501(c)3 charity.

Our mission is to honor all of creation through providing a safe & forever home for farmed animals in need, so they can live free from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. A core aspect of this mission is to highlight the cruelty of animal agriculture through showcasing the personality and lives of our residents and engage in vegan outreach to prevent further harm. As an incorporated 501c3 non-profit

we are run by a small team of dedicated staff & volunteers and supported by generous donors & advocates like you. Nestled in among the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia, USA, PFS is home to many turkeys, chickens, ducks, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, and equines rescued from abuse, neglect, and the cruelty of animal agriculture. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀?
Farmed animals compared to companion animals like dogs or exotics like zebras have very little legal protection against cruelty and neglect, making it much easier for humans to be cruel with low risk of penalties. While thankfully there are numerous organizations working to aid cats and dogs and fight cruelty, organizations that focus on farmed animals are sadly few and far between, making those who do very precious! Brownie the donkey was our 2nd rescue about 12 years ago. He came from southern Shenandoah valley where he was being starved, denied water and electrocuted by an electric prod/staff. This shocking and heartbreaking cruelty is not uncommon and for this reason, for all of the "Brownies" who suffer cruelty, neglect or being killed is why we at PFS fight, why we educate and why we rescue animals- to help make our community better and stand up for the animals in need. No living being, human or nonhuman, should have to suffer under the cruelty and abuse of another.

Our volunteers are pretty kick ass and our nonprofit mission of saving the lives of animals from cruelty WOULD NOT be possible without them! Happy 10 year rescue-versary to Elvis!🎉
Elvis the quarter horse was seized as part of a cruelty/neglect raid by Montgomery county, MD. Starving, he was skin and bones. He's so healthy, trusting and friendly now you'd have no idea of the horrors he faced in his past from spending time with him! Don't be cruel, to a horse that's true. 🎶

Change your thinking about what is food and exclude animal products. Not only will you then change the conditions of animals suffering in agriculture (like male calves killed in the dairy industry), but also change the conditions of your health and well being, Rory says.

New rescue Wicket is excited to share we raised $1,223.03 for the animals yesterday for Giving Tuesday! 🎉🎉
That's nearly 50% of our goal. Thank you so much everyone for your financial gifts! The fundraiser is still active so you can also make it Giving Wednesday if you missed out!

Wicket arrived Nov 13th after being picked up by animal control. Initially sick and underweight, she's doing much better after medical care! This little silkie was named after the most well known Ewok in Star Wars.
