By now most of you have heard of the effort to get supplies to western NC, TN and SW VA via trailers from several local businesses.
Here are a few more options to help folks devastated by Helene. This is a lengthy post, please read through.
Warren County Humane Society - ๐๐ ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฉ ๐๐๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ! We are collecting donations for Hurricane Helene relief to send to Southwest Virginia. This area of Virginia was also devastated this past weekend with catastrophic flooding and power outages. We will be collecting items listed below for victims of this disaster, as well as for the first responders and the animal shelters in the Damascus area and delivering the supplies next weekend. If there is an overflow of donations, we will take those items to North Carolina to assist them. We are accepting items here at the Sheriffโs Office, 24 hours a day, as well as we have a trailer set up at the Humane Society of Warren County from 9am to 4pm now through October 12th! Margaretโs Saving Grace - NC trip update~The first stop on our route, will be Hot Springs NC.
Amelia has been contacted by a previous adopter, the town is devastated. They are still without power, no potable water and no sewage ๐ We will be spending our first night, here. All resources in town, stores and businessโs are gone but they do have limited road access in and out with a wait and we are getting permission granted, prior to going down.
This is a process, folks. And we are not just winging it. A lot of these places are not just allowing random people in to the communities.
1.) to minimize looting through this tragedy.
2.) to keep roads open for emergency personal as they still are finding & recovering people and pets in need.
3.) to protect the people within these communities.

Ok folks I know you all have been waiting and wondering what our plan is. We are teaming up with Chasin' Tail Rescue to make a trek to Western NC, to the smaller humane society's, shelters and rescues that need our help!

Clean up and hygiene kits - My church is part of the Southeastern District, and a church in Asheville, NC is collecting hygiene and clean up kits. There is also a link for monetary donations for the kits. There is an urgent need for 18,000 personal hygiene kits and 15,000 flood clean-up kits.
