Another Chesnut glow up. Cherry Blossom 🌸 before and after. It was so hard to get a good picture of exactly how thin she was, especially from the side profile. Here in the before photo you can see a very pronounced back bone as well as hip pockets. Her chest is also super tiny and narrow. The after images she is nice and chunky, with a wider chest, and no longer are the back and hip bones pronounced. She truly has blossomed under the proper care.

How cute is Banjo in his pink feedbag trying to get every last bite!

Some of our Clarke County horses need to be supplemented with grain, feed bags have been so helpful with this since we don't have a great way to seperate the horses.

There is always a way to feed the horses sometimes you just have to do some trial and error!

We recently took over a herd that was in sanctuary, after the woman who ran it had health complications that made her unable to continue their care. These horses are in need of farrier and vet care before we can place them into new homes, but in order to do that they also need names! The records for...

We took these horses in Novemeber of 2023 from a law enforcement seizure. After many months of working on basic ground manners, we adopted them out to a volunteer that fell in love with Dolly, the percheron. Dolly went from being almost impossible to catch, to coming right up to the fence for breakfast and dinner. In order to adopt them, this volunteer-turned-adopter put in a shed, fixed fencing along the property, so many things that to us said "wow this person is really serious!". Dolly and Remy have been with this person for nearly a year. After some life changes the adopter decided that boarding them would better suit their current needs. They have been in boarding for only a few months now, and the rescue was notified that: 1. this person would not be paying the owed board (due the next day) and 2. They were no longer keeping the horses. Our policy has always been that once a SVERN horse, always a SVERN horse. So the horses are coming back us. It is through no fault of the boarding facility that we have also had to pick up the board payment for them in order to bring them back. Dolly has also regressed to no longer allowing to be caught after so much work was put into that. Please let it be known, when we adopt horses to you, we are TRUSTING you. The goal is to find these horses lasting and committed homes. If you are not committed, please, for the sake of the horses, the rescue, and all of us that work so hard: do not adopt. Dolly and Remy will return to us in the next couple of weeks, we will then begin the evaluation and retraining process with them again before putting them back up for adoption.

Naming time! Now that we are through the worst winter we have had in a while, we are getting ready to start vetting these guys (as donations allow) so they can move on to permanent homes! Given that their caretaker is no longer at capacity, we do not know any of their names... and naming 31 horses is just a lot! Here are just a few horses we haven't named yet.

We have a page on our website you can go to ans select your favorite names! $1=1 vote and the first name to make it to 100 votes will be the winner! All donations will go toward the care of that animal so we can find them permanent homes!

This is your reminder to check those teeth! Horse teeth need to be checked every year for sharp points, decay, tooth root disease, loose teeth, and so much more! Keeping up with teeth helps keep horses comfortable, and will save you in the long run on more costly dental care from tooth neglect.
