Homemade Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nuggets
Crispy Homemade Chick-Fil-A Style Chicken Nuggets
Ingredients:
2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup dill pickle juice
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Peanut oil or vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl. Pour the pickle juice over the chicken, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for maximum flavor.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk.
In another large bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
Drain the pickle juice from the chicken. Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coat. For extra crispy nuggets, repeat the buttermilk and flour coating.
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large, heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the chicken nuggets in batches for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Use a slotted spoon to transfer the nuggets to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
