Happy 4th Birthday to mama Ramona!

An update- Ramona went downhill very quickly yesterday. We rushed her to our amazing vet and he did an emergency spay on her. Her uterus was so huge with infection-8 pounds worth! She slept all night and woke up this morning wagging her tail! She ate a great big breakfast, after not eating for a week. She just cleaned up her lunch bowl and is asking for cookies. We are so thankful for the team of doctors and techs that helped us the past 4 weeks. Our family can finally breathe again and relax and enjoy our favorite holiday. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎅🏻🎄

Not the update I wanted to share- Ramona showed symptoms of Lyme in the middle of November and became very sick. We treated her with pregnancy safe antibiotics. The day after Thanksgiving she started miscarrying. We took her in and thought we stopped her from losing all the pups. We saw heartbeats on the ultrasound just last Monday the 9th. This past Monday the 16th, we took her in for an X-ray puppy count and all the pups had passed. She has a very bad infection called open pyometra and she will be getting spayed on Friday. This is the safest option for her. Please keep her in your prayers as we navigate through this very sad time.

Responsible breeding is health testing hips, elbows, knees, heart, eyes, temperament testing, CCA testing. If you’re interviewing for a puppy, ask to see pedigree. Ask to see health testing. Meet the puppy parents. Read over the contracts.

At 11 months old, a Golden Retriever puppy is close to its full adult size, but may still grow a bit more over the next few months. At this age, Golden Retrievers can weigh between 60–70 lbs, and their legs, nose, and mouth may grow faster than the rest of their body, making them look a little lanky. Their coats will also start to thicken and develop their distinctive feathering, transitioning from their softer, fluffier puppy coat to their adult coat. Exercise is pertinent at this age, daily walks a must to keep the weight healthy. Unhealthy weights can lead to elbow, knee, and hip issues, heart disease, and diabetes.
