❤️ 🐾 A Story Meant to Be - Allie’s Journey Home ❤️ 🐾

Last month, something unforgettable happened at our little Windsor pound.

Marla, our ACO, was getting ready to leave the pound for the day, the door open as she stepped out. Nothing unusual — just another quiet afternoon. But then, out of nowhere, a beautiful husky walked right through the pound door with purpose, as if she had been guided there. She calmly trotted down the aisle, found an open kennel, stepped inside… and curled up on the bed like she finally felt safe.

Marla gently approached her, and in that moment, gave this lost girl a name: Allie.

From the very start, Allie wasn’t like any husky we’d known. She was gentle. Calm. Laid back. A true “go with the flow” soul. She adored pets, loved her walks, and found comfort just being near someone. Everyone who met her instantly loved her — she was that special.

And then, earlier today, everything changed.

We received a message from Angie Myers, who had seen a post in a lost-and-found group - a husky with the exact same markings… and the same incredible eyes: one eye light blue on the bottom and yellow on the top.

She connected the dots.
She connected the people.
And suddenly, hope filled the air.

She reached out to the person who’d been searching… and connected them with us. As soon as they saw her photo, they knew.

It was their girl.

Her real name is Autumn.
Her family lives in Columbia.

A while back, while going potty, Autumn slipped out of her collar in Moberly. They searched everywhere. Days turned into weeks. They never stopped looking or hoping.

Tonight, they drove all the way to Windsor.

And what happened next… we’ll carry with us forever.

The moment Autumn saw her owner, her entire body lit up. Wagging and wiggling with joy. She knew. He knew. Their reunion was pure magic - the kind of moment that reminds you how deeply dogs love, how fiercely they hold on to their people.

We may never know how Autumn ended up in Windsor.
We may never know what her journey looked like or how far she traveled.

What we do know is this:

She found our pound when she needed safety the most.
And her family never stopped searching for her.

Tonight, Autumn is curled up at home — her real home — wrapped in love, warmth, and familiarity. The story we thought was heading toward adoption turned into something even more beautiful:

A miracle reunion.

⭐A Friend, Advocate, and Hero for Dogs — Scott Poore⭐

There are people who help… and then there are people who change everything. For us, that person is Scott Poore. When Scott visited our pound for the first time, he saw our dogs living in tiny kennels 24/7, only getting out when volunteers were able to walk them. He didn’t look away—he took action. Because of Scott, we now have beautiful, much-needed dog runs where our dogs can finally run, stretch, play, and lay in the sun. Their stress is lower, their spirits are higher, and their lives are better.

Scott didn’t stop there. He noticed we had no HVAC system, leaving the dogs to endure extreme heat and cold. Once again, he stepped up and helped raise the funds for a brand-new system, giving every dog comfort and safety year-round.

Scott has also raised money for Windsor dogs needing life-saving medical care, giving them the chance they otherwise wouldn’t have had. He reached out to Ace Hardware to secure donated paint and supplies, helping transform the pound into a brighter, more welcoming place for visitors, the ACO, and the dogs.

Scott is truly one of a kind—someone who has helped countless shelters, saved countless lives, and brought hope wherever he goes. We are incredibly lucky that he chose to help ours.

Scott, you mean the world to us. Our dogs are safer, happier, and healthier because of you. And our hearts are forever grateful. Thank you for everything!

Dear Future Family,

Today was like most days.
Quiet.
A little lonely.
But still… full of hope.

I’ve been at the pound for 6 ½ months now.
That’s 6 ½ months of tiny kennels, quiet days, short visits, and watching other pups go home while I stay behind.
It’s getting really hard. 💔

Every day I stand up when I hear footsteps…
Every day I hope it’s finally my turn…
