💔 May May: A Heartbreaking Past, A Hopeful Future 💔
Meet May May, a 4 1/2-year-old, 50-pound soul who has endured a life of unimaginable confinement. For her entire life, May May was trapped in a small kennel inside a house—never feeling the softness of grass beneath her paws, never knowing the warmth of the sun on her back, never experiencing the simple joys every dog deserves. Her world was cold and small, and it left her guarding the only thing she ever knew as "home."
Her past has left scars. May May developed kennel aggression, guarding the only "home" she ever knew by lunging and growling at strangers near her kennel. But that isn’t who she truly is.
Since arriving at the pound in July, our compassionate ACO has worked tirelessly with her, showing May May that the world isn’t as cruel as she once believed. The transformation has been incredible—outside of her kennel, May May is a completely different dog with our ACO. She craves attention, loves belly rubs, and delights in running and playing in the runs. She adores squeaky toys and has discovered the joy of exploring the world on walks, a new and thrilling experience for her.
May May gets along with other dogs (with slow introductions) and has a deep love for cuddles.
She needs a rescue that can continue helping her heal—one that will show her that not all people are bad and that she no longer has to protect a kennel. She deserves to know safety, warmth, and unconditional love.

Sasha is a vibrant, appx 1 1/2 y/o, 62-pound bundle of joy! Always smiling with her tongue hanging out, Sasha brings love and laughter wherever she goes. She loves to run and play, full of energy and happiness. She is a silly girl with a huge heart, and she’s sure to keep you entertained with her fun-loving nature. Due to her love for jumping, a 6-foot fence is a must for her safety. She enjoys chewing on toys, which helps keep her out of trouble! 💔 May Needs a Miracle 💔
For SEVEN long MONTHS, we’ve been searching for rescue for May. She’s approximately 4 1/2 years old, 40 pounds, and has a story that breaks your heart—but also shows her incredible resilience.
Before May came to our pound in July, her ENTIRE LIFE was spent confined to a kennel inside a house, never let outside. She never felt the sun on her back or the grass beneath her paws. That isolation shaped her. She learned to guard her space, lunging and growling at strangers who approach her kennel. But that’s not the real May. That’s just a dog trying to protect herself in a world that has never been kind.
But May is so much more than her past. Our amazing Animal Control Officer (ACO) has been working tirelessly to gain May’s trust—and it’s paid off! With our ACO, May May is a completely different dog:
🐾 Sweet and affectionate
🐾 Playful and ready for belly rubs
🐾 Eager for love and connection
May does tend to warm up more quickly to females, but once she feels safe, her personality shines. She cherishes her time outside in the dog runs, feeling the grass beneath her paws, playing, and simply enjoying the freedom she never had before. Walks are another favorite—May loves exploring the world she was denied for so long.
Our pound is not the place for May. It’s very small, unmanned, and lacks the resources to give her the specialized care she needs. May deserves a rescue that can provide her with:

We are beyond thrilled to share one of the biggest updates in the history of our little pound—and it’s all thanks to the incredible kindness and generosity of so many amazing people!
First, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Cara Fiser, who got the ball rolling with her efforts to raise funds for a much-needed HVAC system! ❤
A heartfelt thank you to all of our AMAZING supporters who donated towards the HVAC system—your generosity means the world to us, and we are so incredibly thankful for each and every one of you! Your support has been nothing short of extraordinary.❤
But today, something truly magical happened. 💖 Scott Poore, a very special person and dear friend to our pound, reached out and asked how close we were to our $10,000 goal for the HVAC system to give our dogs the heat and air conditioning they desperately need.
At that moment, we had raised $4,941—almost halfway there. Just minutes after that conversation, Scott and his amazing company, On A Mission KC (https://www.facebook.com/onamissionkc), and the McCarthy Family Foundation donated $5,059 to cover the remaining amount!!!!!
Because of Scott’s incredible generosity and unwavering support, we will now be able to install a heating system in time for the cold winter months! 🐾❤️
