This handsome guy was brought in last week as a stray.
We named him Stryker.

He is young, less than a year old. He weighs around 50 pounds. He looks like he could be a Black Mouth Cur mix and he has soulful brown eyes.

Stryker is high energy but very friendly.
He would be a great companion for an active family.
He takes treats gently.

He also loves head scratches!
He tries very hard to keep his kennel clean so we think he might have lived indoors with a family.

🙏 Now he needs a new family!
Stryker walks pretty well on a leash, he just needs a little time and he is sure to be a quick learner.
He has been friendly with Armani, another dog currently at the shelter.

Stryker was walked by the cats and he was a tiny bit curious but he was afraid to get too close! He may do well in a home with cats or another friendly dog.

Stryker has not been neutered yet.
He also has not been to the vet so we don't know his heartworm status.

Please consider fostering or adopting Stryker!
You can also do foster-to-adopt to make sure he's the right fit!

All animals are sterilized before adoption. Most of the time, if we have the funds and the time, they are also UTD on all core vaccines and other vetting)
**if an animal is too young to sterilize, an agreement is signed that of age agreed upon the animal will be sterilized (at your expense unless discussed) and proof thereof provided to us. THIS IS STRICTLY ENFORCED or the animal will be returned back to us!

➖If you currently have any dogs we suggest to bring them to the shelter to meet the dog you are interested in and bring your family.
➖NO DOGS ARE ADOPTED TO LIVE OUTSIDE! They must be adopted to become INSIDE beloved family members.
➖for some dogs we require a fenced yard (this depends on the dog) we can discuss it.

I hope you are ready for another story that will make your eyes leak......
Our precious Otis came to us last spring when his owner died and no family could take him. Like all pets who come into the shelter, he did not know why he was there, but he made the best of it. His calm, laid back, loving nature won our hearts immediately as well as the hearts of anyone who came in the cat barn. We let him roam the barn freely, and you could not get in the door without giving and receiving kisses with him. There was no way around it. You HAD to love him! And he liked to have you put on his harness and take him out on his leash so he could enjoy the weather. In one of the pictures you can see where we took him to Petsmart for an adoption day. He laid right down beside our wreath and sign and he looked like a commercial for adopting a shelter cat. He had a blast that day! Unfortunately, we learned in a home setting he needs to be the only pet. Also while with us, he was diagnosed with diabetes that was controlled by an oral liquid medicine. And to top it off, he was a senior cat. So for these reasons, he had 3 srikes against him that would make him hard to adopt. We knew we would have him with us for a long time, and while we loved him, we wanted so much more for him, and he deserved so much more. With his loving, irresistible personality, we feared it would not be enough to overcome the issues he had in the eyes of a potential adopter. It took months, but then we got a call from a lady who had had 3 cats that all lived very long lives, and the last one had died, so they had no pets. Check! She was looking for a senior cat. Check! We told her all about Otis, including that he was diabetic, and she was not deterred by that. Check! We could not believe it!! They came to meet him and took him home that day!!!!! What a miracle! We were over the moon happy for him! They love that sweet boy, and, as you can see from the pictures, he is loving his people and loving his new life!! How do we say thank you to this family for adopting and loving the one that others wouldn't want? His issues didnt matter to them. We love their hearts, and they love his, and that is a big win every day of the year! We sure miss our kisses from Otis but we can handle it knowing what a great life he has now.

We have been invited to the Tractor Supply tomorrow to bring a few of our dogs. TYRRELL ANIMAL SHELTER will be there also!

🐶🐶🐶KINLEY, KOBEY and AVERY will be at the event!! Please go meet them!! They are wonderful dogs needing forever homes!! Even if you think you can foster one of them, please let us know.

COME OUT AND MEET SOME BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET DOGS and show your support for shelter dogs!!

Oh happy day for our Sunny Hunny!!
We got a call from a lady who said, "I know I am looking for a unicorn but.....and she listed off specific things she was looking for in a cat. She said none of them were deal breakers just qualities she was partial to, kind of like a wish list, and wondered if we had anything like that. I said you just described our Sunny Hunny. He checks all your boxes! And since I happened to be at the shelter, I face timed her with our BIG boy, and she definitely wanted to come and meet him. They had had a cat for years, and it died. Her son really wanted another one, and she told him he would need to be responsible for it, and before they got one, he would need to show he could handle the responsibility. So if he wanted a cat, he would have to take full responsibility to care for their dog for a while. That young man stepped right up and did a great job for the last few months to prove he was worthy of the responsibility. His Mom and sister came to the shelter to check out Sunny Hunny, and they agreed he would be a great fit. They took Sunny Hunny home as an early surprise Christmas gift to that young man, and he was so happy! He was calling his friends and telling them about his new friend. Sunny Hunny is making himself right at home and sleeping with the boy at night. We have received videos of our sweet boy snuggling and loving on them. He lived in a cage for so long that he is truly enjoying his freedom and a chance at continuous love. He was exactly what they wanted, and they were exactly what he wanted. We are thrilled for our boy and for this family! He left a BIG 15 lb hole in our hearts, but he is living his best life now and we couldn't be happier! What a grear way for him to start off 2026!

A heartwarming story of how a shelter pet can change a life. A senior lady had a cat that she had for many years and loved it dearly. When it died, she was devastated with grief. She stayed in bed a lot, and didnt want to get up or get out. After this went on for almost 2 weeks, her family felt getting another cat to love may help her, so they talked with her and she agreed. She trusted them to choose one for her, so 3 of them came to meet our cats. They all wanted to have input in choosing this cat because they loved this lady and knew what it could mean for her. When they came, they agreed on our sweet Romeo. Let me just say that boy earned his name and lived up to it every day he was with us. Sometimes when a new pet comes in we struggle to come up with a name for them, but not with this boy. The name came to us right away because of his loving personality. They took Romeo to his new home, and he worked his magic. When the daughter called the lady the next day to see how things were going, her mom said they were going great! She had gotten up first thing, got dressed, fed Romeo, played with him until he got tired and went to sleep and then she just watched him sleep. Romeo brought joy to her and gave her a reason to get up in the morning. And that sweet boy is winning hearts all around. There are 2 relatives that have said if anything should happen where she may not be able to take care of him, they would take him. We have people lining up to make sure Romeo always has a home and never has to live in a shelter again. We love that boy, and now the love he gave to us is being shared in his new home. Enjoy your new life Romeo. We miss you, but we sure do love seeing your empty cage and knowing you are so happy and loved.
