In a little more than a week we have to move dogs!!
 there’s nowhere for them to go… They can’t even go back to the outdoor shelter because it’s completely full

Do yall remember when Tigger and Ozzy got adopted in January?? Well a reporter with the News and Observor saw our post and wanted to do an article on their adoption!!! I'snt that amazing??!! We were very grateful, and I guess we were all so excited that we failed to share that with you. So here it is. Enjoy!
P.S. We have been to visit Tigger and Ozzy in their new home and they are doing great! Their parents are good about staying in touch with pictures and updates, and we just love that!

The North Carolina shelter’s good news didn’t stop there.

🚨🚨THESE 7 DOGS ARE IN URGENT NEED OF RESCUES, or FOSTERS or ultimately FOREVER HOMES! Time is running out and we have nowhere for them to go😫
The shelter is completely full, and some of these dogs are in boarding or foster homes and have to leave. They cannot even return to the outdoor shelter because it’s full!!! 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Every one of these dogs are extremely adoptable!!

New owner surrender yesterday. 😩Shelter name is Hoss. He’s a big boy!
He is approximately 2-3 years old.
Hoss could be a Flat-Coated Retriever mix possibly?
➖It’s too soon to know if he is cat and dog friendly. He seems like a sweet boy though.
We will update everyone as we get to know him.

Listen to this happy story. It starts out sad but ends happy.

Jean and Chris lost their beloved Dexter, and their home was so empty they wanted another cat. Jean told me through tears about Dexter and said she saw our video of Ivory and was interested in adopting him.

They drove an hour and 45 minutes to meet him, and it was worth it to them because they just loved him. But there was a problem....they also fell for Cirrus.
The original plan was to only adopt 1 cat, and they struggled to decide which 1 but finally chose Ivory. For several days they continued to think about Cirrus. Ivory was thriving with them but they couldn't forget Cirrus.

So they reached out to me one night and said they had decided they couldn't leave Cirrus behind and wanted to know if they could come and get him.
So the next day Jean stayed with Ivory while Chris made that long drive again to come and get Cirrus. These people have a heart for animals and buy several pounds of food on a regular basis to feed birds and squirrels that frequent their yard.
Ivory and Cirrus are settling in well, and fun fact....they were brought in by Animal Control from the same house, so they knew each other prior to coming to the shelter and now they get to live together in their furrever home.

One more nice note...even though they spend money to feed the animals around them, when Chris came to adopt Cirrus, he gave a donation to help our shelter pets here until they can get their own furrever homes. Thanks Jean and Chris for adopting our beautiful boys and for caring for other animals the way you do. The world would be a better place if there were more people like you.

We are happy to announce that precious Carlotta has a home!! This sweet cat came to us with a heart of gold. Most cats come in and are afraid for at least a day or two because they have been placed in a trap, ridden in the back of a truck, and brought to a place where nothing is familiar. They don't understand where they are or why they are in a cage. Those feelings are completely understandable, but Carlotta did not do that. She came in purring and purred constantly with the loudest motor you have probably ever heard. She was just kind and gentle from day one. Thankfully, she didn't have to stay at the shelter long. When this family, which I know personally, reached out to us for a cat, it was because they had recently had to say goodbye to their beloved cat they had had for years. When they described what they were looking for, I immediately thought of Carlotta. When they came to the shelter, I introduced them to Carlotta, and they fell in love. I offered to show them other cats to see if there might be someone else that they would prefer, but they declined and said, "No. We want her." Well little Miss Carlotta walked right into her new home like she owned the place because she knew before she ever left the shelter that she was loved and had a family of her own. Thank you, Hillary, for being willing to open your heart to Carlotta after having it broken when you lost your previous baby. Your kind and gentle heart freed Carlotta from the cage where she was living, and we hope Carlotta will be a healing balm that will help your heart to heal. We miss Carlotta, but our loss is Hillary and her family's gain. And that's a good thing. Keep on purring baby girl.

Happy Day!! Our Pepper has left the building!!! This sweet boy came to us after he showed up at a house where it wasn't possible for him to stay. That person fell in love with him for the short time Pepper was there and once she brought him to us, she continued to check on him, try to find a home for him and even visit him at the shelter. When Pepper showed up at that house, he had a very sick eye that had to be removed. Even with that painful eye he was so sweet and a real trooper. He lived at the shelter for 10 months, which gave us plenty of time to fall head over heels in love with this big boy. He stole all our hearts, but even with all our pictures and videos we posted of him, we never had one person express interest in him. Because we knew how great he was, we just couldn't understand why nobody would want this gentle giant. Maybe it was because he was an adult. Maybe it was because he only had one eye. Whatever the reason, it gave us more time with him, and we enjoyed that. But the day came when one of our volunteers, Jen, was ready for a pet, and she chose Pepper. As you can see, he stole the hearts of everyone who met him. He went to his new home and made himself right at home. The picture of him sleeping was taken about an hour and a half after he got home, which tells you he felt comfortable, safe, and relaxed enough in his new environment to take a nap. His new Mom has sent us pictures and videos of him which helps us when we are missing him. A couple of days after he was adopted, I called to check on him. When Jen answered, I said "How is our boy? Is he ok?" She said my name and there was a long pause, and my heart dropped because I thought there was a problem, but her next words were "He is more than OK! He is wonderful!" He has been sleeping with her since the first night, and she and Pepper are so happy. We understand if you are jealous and wish you had a great cat like Pepper, but don't you worry. We have more great cats, and you can have your own happy story if you will give us a call. We love and miss you, Pepper, and we love you, Jen, for loving our Pepper.
