I love this!!
Edit: ok pictures cant help everyone learn I guess since there are still people disagreeing 🤷 cant help that but i can clarify some of the legit questions i have seen so far. Brachycephalic means a broad short skull... in dogs, thats a shortening of the snout like in bulldogs and pugs. In humans, thats like a shortening from face to back of skull. I threw a pic of what it looks like in humans in the comments somewhere bc I know a lot of people haven't seen it who dont work in the medical field. If you want to campare this girls shaved look to the skull of a breed who has never been accused of being brachycephalic, take a minute to google a hairless rex rabbit named Mr. Bigglesworth and compare for yourself!
HOLLAND LOPS are NOT brachycephalic. Saying it means nothing to some people, so here is the proof. This is Ytterbium shaved. Safe to say she had a weird day.
I'm well aware that this is going to bother some people, but this felt important. Ytterbium is a fuzzy holland lop and she has been shaved. I normally do not have fuzzies in my barn because Nanny thinks they are a delicacy... so if I keep a fuzzy this long it means its way too nice to cull and Ytterbium and her sister are really incredible hands on, so this is what a nicely typed holland looks like shaved.
This was a random decision for an educational post. I orginally was just going to shave the back of her neck (because that is the place where wool will ALWAYS mat up) but then she looked ridiculous so i shaved her body... and then I couldnt stop thinking about how a lot of non-breeders say a lot of things, one of them being that Hollands lops are brachycephalic and she was just so tolerant at that point that I figured, why not... education is important, it is summer so its safe, and I think most people probably have never seen this. Seeing it is so different from feeling it. So Ytterbium got to be my guinea pig (Skinny pig 😆) in the name of education. I will throw some more pics in the comments, but this one was my favorite. Now I'm off to crochet this girl a sweater just in case we have a suprise cold front 😉
