We often hear from so many owners who are struggling “my dog is a rescue and exhibits (insert bad behavior here.)”

what WE actually hear is “my dog is displaying bad behavior.” The rescue part actually does not matter to us, and that’s not a downplay to those who have rescued dogs from some pretty horrific situations. What we mean is that your dogs history is in the past, and we can only move forward from here.

Whether the dog did come from bad circumstances or not, it still needs training, leadership, and structure just as any other dog would. Could their behavior be worse or more severe due to their past experiences? Sure. But that’s why we just address them as we see them, and we don’t spend too much time dwelling on the “why”.

We have worked with thousands of dogs with all different upbringings. We train them, we build their confidence, and we show them what leadership actually is. If you put them all in a room together, we would most likely not be able to tell the difference between the rescued dogs or the ones brought home at 8 weeks from a breeder.

All we find is that holding onto your dogs’ rescue story holds a lot of folks back. It stops them from doing what needs to be done because they are too emotionally invested in the dogs history. We don’t have the power to change the past. We can just make today the best we can—And the same goes for our dogs.

That's right folks paint night has gone to the dogs, and we are so excited about it! We are only taking a LIMITED AMOUNT OF SPOTS.Both Hooman and Doggo will get their own sets of paints, brushs, and canvas. Each pair gets a plastic zip lock bag to put paint and Doggos canvas in. Each pair will also receive 3 different lickable taste treats to help entice your Furry friend to make a masterpiece!

A very common question I get from owners when a dog is here for Board & Train: “well what happens when…”

Nothing. Nothing happens when… because I don’t set the dog up to fail like that.

I train and prepare a dog. Baby steps. LEASH ON. We trainers, we use a leash a lot, and for a very long time, for a reason.

A leash is a communication tool, not simply a restraint tool.

I am not going to see what your dog does without a leash until they know what to do WITH a leash.

I am not going to see what your dog does when someone knocks until I see that they know how to act when someone doesn’t and just walks in.

I am not going to see your dog’s reaction to situation B, until I know they can respond appropriately to situation A.

When trainers do things in small steps and with leashes on, it’s because we are TEACHING. We aren’t running around, throwing dogs into situations that could be scary or stressful, hoping for the best and crossing our fingers which are subsequently sitting on an ecollar button.

How would you feel if you went to school, were told to do a geometry problem when all you know is basic math, then socked in the face when you get it wrong?

The LEASH is the ultimate teaching tool. It’s how we teach the geometry to the student who only knows basic math. It’s how we communicate.

If your dog can’t do it ON a leash, your dog can’t do it OFF a leash.

Put the leash on the dog.

🐕 Puppy Class: 🐕

This class focuses on basic foundation commands, sit, down, place, release word, come/here, heel, and manners(leash, mouthing, feet on floor, etc.) Plus a little socialization at the end of class. For dogs under one year, class limited to 8.

Sunday’s at 11 am for 6 weeks:

November 3rd, 10th, 24th. December 1st, 8th and 15th.

🐕 Basic Obedience Class: 🐕

This class focuses on basic commands, sit, down, place, release word, come/here, heel, and manners(leash, mouthing, feet on floor, etc.) For dogs any age, class limited to 8.

Sunday’s at 1 pm for 6 weeks:

November 3rd, 10th, 24th. December 1st, 8th and 15th.

🔥 Please potty your dogs before class starts, bring treats for them and a collar and leash, NO FLEXI/RETRACTABLE LEASHES.

Sessions like today, remind me why I love what I do! Our last session wasn’t difficult, but it was a lot of learning! Today’s session she remembered EVERYTHING we worked on last session.

Just remember, even those sessions that don’t go as planned, teach you what you need to know and help you in your next sessions! Sometimes our plan for the session just goes out the window when the dog shows us what they need in that session. Use your instincts and follow them.

Thank you all, for the birthday wishes yesterday! I did a whole lot of nothing, which is never on the agenda.. lol But I woke up this morning and got out the door early, for a great lesson on Miss Dix! Now I’m waiting for a training session with a new client, and I’m so excited! Country K9 Academy Dog Training, and Wild Dixie Ranch!

Getting older isn’t for the weak, but I’m attempting to enjoy every second. So again thank you for the birthday wishes, and have a wonderful day all you beautiful people!

Loki is here for board and train and is doing AMAZING! 🥰🥰🥰🥰! He is almost done his first week, and I am super proud of all his accomplishments so far! ( no videos as it’s usually just me and hard to video at the same time I’m working.. lol)
