This is Claire. She's a Fjord horse in her early 30s. Over the years, I've been blessed to work with her, care for her, love on her, and even do some light riding with her before her retirement.
She initiates snuggles and affection. Typically, she snoozes with her nose on my leg, tongue out.

I was headed to a long client stay, so we did a big working day to exhaust the brain. We did socialization exercises and worked on public access tasks.
Then we went to the creek where she ran, swam, and worked her physical body. She got to sniff and process her day, enjoying all the things that made her happy.
The next morning, she was so excited to head onto her vacation in the big truck.
This is socialization.
Working on being neutral in busy or loud environments is KEY to a balanced pup.
Having a partner that understands and enjoys their job makes life so much easier to enjoy.

You don't have to put your dog in a dog park to socialize. I highly recommend you DON'T go about socialization that way.
A dog's ability to be neutral and relaxed around noise, crowds of people, children and babies, and other dogs (in the next room by the door) is so crucial to every day life with your pup.
Being able to walk into a space with a dog on one side and a child on the other, and knowing that your pup is confident and comfortable to just pass on by is a huge stress reliever for everyone involved.
