How many days until spring and hints of green start popping up on the grape vines?

This week's adoption fairs are brought to you by Raffaldini Vineyards and Winery! Nestled in the rolling foothills of the Yadkin Valley, family-owned Raffaldini Vineyards brings Tuscan charm to North Carolina. Known widely as “Chianti in the Carolinas” Raffaldini currently produces only classically dry Italian style wines ranging from reds like Sangiovese Classico, Montepulciano Riserva, Sagrantino and Grande Riserva with the white being Vermentino and a sparkling Prosecco style wine called Auguri. Raffaldini hosts public and private events throughout the year and is still a beautiful place to visit even in the middle of winter. Raffaldini Vineyards & Winery

Hey you!

Yeah, you!

What are you sitting around for? It's a new year and it's time for a new companion in your life! This is your sign to come to AARF's adoption fair to meet your new best friend! There's going to be kittens and cats and puppies, oh my!

No reason to sit at home wishing you were sticking to that resolution to work out more (not trying to shame anyone but...)
..If you need a workout partner, why not get a dog to take for walks? These cats are super playful and would love someone to chase around the house! Who needs a gym membership when you have a furry friend to keep you moving!

Swing by and say hello and learn more about the animals in need of a second chance! It could be the best thing you do in 2026!

Which cat has been with AARF the longest?

It's Spot, and it's a shame that he hasn't found a home yet. Spot is easily the most food obsessed cat you'll ever meet. All your snacks belong to Spot! Don't worry, he isn't mean about it, he just wants to make sure you're eating high quality treats--err, snacks!

We recommend keeping some tasty kitty treats on hand. Why? To better fuel Spot's epic playtime! Spot loves to play. He lives to bat around any kind of jingly toy, but he'll make do with a feather wand toy, if he has to.

Spot is a smart cat that is ready for his forever home! If you have space to bring this bundle of joy into your home, fill out an application to become and approved adopter today!

What does a day in the life of Gryffindor look like?

First and foremost, it's going to involve fetch. This boy loves to play fetch and he has no upper limit. Got kids you need to tire out? Send them out to play fetch with Gryffindor!

After that, it's time for a snack. Not just any ol' snack. Peanut butter. It's his favorite.

A perfect day for Gryffindor would involve playtime with doggie friends too! He loves other dogs and playing with them is the absolute best!

Gryffindor is playful, fun-loving, and always ready for an adventure! He's handsome, housebroken, and definitely the most goofy. What more could you possibly want?

Being the last of the litter is kind of a bummer. Gryffindor got to watch all his siblings find their family and now he's patiently waiting for his own happy ending. If you, or someone you know, is looking for a paw-some companion to spend the new year with, submit an application to become an approved adopter with AARF!

What does it mean to foster?

Fostering means getting to see the cute moments when a kitten pounces on it's first feather toy. Fostering is witnessing a puppy explore outside of their pen and getting spooked by curtains. It's giving, and receiving, unconditional love from a furry friend.

Fostering is vital for what we do at AARF. Giving animals a second chance at happiness means we NEED fosters to grant that opportunity. By becoming a foster, you increase AARF's ability to help animals in need. By fostering, you become a part of the solution to help animals find a family of their own.

AARF knows there are a lot of questions around fostering. Let us help answer some of those questions!

What does it cost to foster? Nothing! It's free to be a foster! AARF covers the cost of medical care, food, toys, p*e pads, and anything else your pet needs to live a healthy life in your home. All you have to do is love on your dog or cat until the time comes to send them home.

How long can I foster? As long as you like. We usually ask that fosters keep their rescue pet until they get adopted, but life is pretty crazy. If you can only do a couple of weeks, we can work with that! Only able to foster on an emergency basis? We'll reach out when we need the help!

But what if I fall in love? Then you get to adopt! There's no shame in becoming a "foster fail" and adopting the cat or dog you said you'd only watch temporarily. We understand that sometimes those tail wags are just too good to say no to.

Big dogs, small dogs, puppies, kittens, seniors, there is something for everyone. AARF believes that all animals deserve a second chance, but we can only help them with you by our side! Comfortable loving on a big dog? Sign up! We could use your experience! Know all about bottle feeding? Step on up! We can save even more lives if you can help us nurse babies!

Head over to www.aarfws.org to fill out a foster application and become a life-saving foster!

It's the time of year when you wish you had a nice mudroom and indoor pet spa for when your pets trudge in the mud! This week's adoption fairs are brought to you by business partner Anderson Moore Kitchen & Bath. They are known for their exceptional service and zero punch list process, where they try to address all the little things along the way instead of leaving them to the very end. While other companies just do design work or sell cabinets or perform physical construction, they combine all the services you need and deliver them through their seamless 4-step process and with a no-nonsense, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
