AARF AARF is a nonprofit 501(c)3 aiding homeless and helpless cats and dogs in the greater Winston-Salem We are open from noon to 5pm Tuesday through Friday.

Adoption fairs are resuming for cats on Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm and dogs from 11 am to 1 pm. in the backyard. Watch Facebook for up-to-date information. You may visit our website to see our adoptable cats and dogs. You may turn in an online application at aarfws.org

Happy Tail Update!

"We adopted Howie, "Chandler" 2 years ago. He was part of the "Friends" litter. He's such a sweet, goofy boy. He didn't get as big as expected and tops out at about 50 lbs. but still has so much strength. He loves playing with his little brother, Quinn. While Howie may be bigger, Quinn rules the roost and doesn't mind putting Howie in his place. We love having Howie be part of our family, life without dogs just wouldn't be the same. We thank AARF for everything they do for these animals. I hope if you're out there thinking about getting a dog, you will adopt 🐶❤️🐕"

Dog Fosters Needed! 🐾

These dogs are not currently in the AARF program, but we would love to be able to help! However, we cannot do it without a committed foster family.

AARF provides all necessary supplies and medical care for the animal; we just ask that you give them a safe loving place to stay until they find their forever home. If you are interested in helping any of these sweet dogs, please contact our foster coordinator, [email protected].

🧡 Dolly: 3 year old female, 50 lbs. Dolly is indeed a tripod, but she is the friendliest, sweetest, and gentle girl. She loves dogs but is not tested with cats.

🩵 Serena: 1 year old female, 17 lbs. good with other dogs

🩷 Mason: 8 month old male, 32 lbs., full of energy

❤️ Star: 3 year old female, 71 lbs.. She is housetrained, good with other dogs and loves people.

💛 Annabella: Adult female, House trained, good with other dogs, and loves people

💚Acorn: 3 year old male, 54 lbs. Good with other dogs, loves people, and is housetrained.

💜 Marshall and Rosie: Young adults, 65lbs, Both are very sweet and loving. They know their name, come, sit, and some leash manners. They are housetrained and crate trained.

🩵Hyacinth: 1 year old female, 20 lbs. She is very sweet and good with kids and other dogs.

Her confidence has really grown over the past year and she’s now a friendly, happy, goofy little girl. We love her so much."

Nothing like a wonderful adoption update to start your Thursday morning!

"Allie, known as Velma at AARF is doing very well! She was supposed to be a service dog, but she has too much anxiety, so she is our big puppy! We couldn’t imagine our life without her! She is a big goofball and loves to play with her sisters and tennis balls! She loves running in the back yard and the dog park! She is much bigger than we imagined she would be (67 pounds), but we wouldn’t trade her for anything! We are so glad Allie is our puppy!"

Between those animals, and the animals from our direct community, there are more animals needing help than ever before. Please consider opening your home to a foster dog or cat. Fostering is temporary! Fostering is rewarding! Fostering is free! Fostering is fun! Fostering makes a difference!
