AARF AARF is a nonprofit 501(c)3 aiding homeless and helpless cats and dogs in the greater Winston-Salem We are open from noon to 5pm Tuesday through Friday.

Adoption fairs are resuming for cats on Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm and dogs from 11 am to 1 pm. in the backyard. Watch Facebook for up-to-date information. You may visit our website to see our adoptable cats and dogs. You may turn in an online application at aarfws.org

Don't just sit at home and talk about how cute these dogs are! Get up and come to our adoption fair and see them in person!

Adoption fees include age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery! That's one heck of a deal!

Swing by the adoption fair to meet a ridiculous number of adorable animals. You can even fill out an adoption application before you get here!

Dogs are available from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and Cats are available from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. We're located at 302 Thurston Street, Winston-Salem! Come say hello!

It's National Pasta Day and what better way to jazz up your pasta dish with a little Salt and Pepper?

Salt and Pepper (Salt has the white nose), are a lovely dynamic duo who are nothing but sweet and snuggles! These two are out exploring the cat room and saying hello to all the other kittens! They're so curious and everyone loves seeing their little noses wiggle with all the sniffing around they're doing.

Salt and Pepper came to AARF as teeny tiny little orphans. Tortellini was such a gracious mom that she took them on to nurse with her own babies! Now all the kittens are grown up and ready to find a family to call their own. Salt and Pepper would be great kittens to take home together but they would do just as well as individual additions to your home!

Stop by the AARF House today to meet with these gorgeous gals! Don't forget to fill out your adoption application so you can take a cat home even faster!

Today is National Pasta Day! Let's all say our favorite kind of pasta!

We'll go first!

Tortellini, duh! This one isn't cheese filled, she full of love and cuddles and a serene calmness you don't often see in cats. Tortellini is a favorite beauty of the AARF House! She often gets comments about how beautiful she is! We absolutely agree! Just look at those eyes!

Tortellini came to AARF in July when her and her two kittens needed a little extra love. Tortellini went the extra mile and took on two orphaned kittens as well. Not only is this cat an exceptional beauty, but she's got a loving and warm heart! Now, Tortellini and all her babies are looking for a home to call their own!

Come and meet Tortellini at the AARF House, any time from Tuesday to Friday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Or on Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm! She's just waiting for someone to bring her home!

Peek-a-boo, have we got a sweet treat for you!

You're not seeing double, it's just Victor Frankenstein and his best bud, Hyde! These two bros are the absolute best. Victor loves to play peek-a-boo with the family dog and Hyde loves to cuddle with the small human in the house. These two are all about the playtime! Whether it's with each other or with all the toys they find, these cats are the absolute best at enjoying life.

Hyde is an avid bird watcher. His favorite activities involve monitoring the local bird population from his warm perch in the window.

Victor is a studious sort. He can be found typing memos and correcting spelling at his foster mom's computer.

They don't have to go home together, but who wouldn't want a matched set for their house? Can't wait to get them home? Fill out an adoption application today!

We've found the key to your heart!

Want to know what it is?

It's Key, obviously! This adorable boy is a social butterfly! It doesn't matter if you have two legs or four, he loves to hang out and be loved on! Key gets along with almost every dog he meets and he's full of energy to go on long walks and adventures!

Clever boy that he is, Key loves his puzzle games. His foster mom loves playing the cup game with him and he's figuring out the game pretty well! Key is playful and friendly, sweet and cuddly. Basically, all your standard parts of the Awesome Dog Package!

Key is also heartworm positive. He will be undergoing treatment with AARF, but no worries! He's still available for adoption and ready for a family!

Pictures don't do this boy justice! You simply have to meet him in person! You can meet him, and other available dogs, at our adoption fairs on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the AARF House!

Here at AARF, we believe that every dog has a home out there somewhere. The dogs that come to us are in need of some help and that's why our motto is "For the paw that needs a hand."

Silas is in need of a second chance. She needs someone who will be patient and kind, and most of all, she needs someone who will understand her. Silas isn't a dog for just anyone. She's a dog that needs someone special.

Silas is energetic and playful (seriously, did you see the photo of her with the giant stick?) Nothing holds this dog back from hanging out with her special person. Once she learns that you're a safe person to be around, she's 100% your loyal shadow.

It was December 2024 when Silas came to us. That's 10 months that Silas has been wishing and hoping that someone would see her and think, "maybe that's the dog for me..."

SAVE the DATE! In just one month, we are throwing a HUGE Gala. But we want you to stay home! Skip the tux, pass on the heels, and leave the babysitter off duty - because the best seat in the house is your own couch.

Cocktails will NOT be served at 6 p.m.
Dinner will NOT be served at 7 p.m.
NO program will be held at 8 p.m.

Instead of attending a fancy event, we invite you to support the animals by donating what you would typically spend on tickets, cocktails, dinner, parking, a new outfit, maybe even a manicure! Because every dollar you donate to this event goes directly to rescuing, healing, and rehoming animals in need. No chicken dinners. Just second chances. (And yes - you can even wear pajamas.)
