What does it mean to foster?
Fostering means getting to see the cute moments when a kitten pounces on it's first feather toy. Fostering is witnessing a puppy explore outside of their pen and getting spooked by curtains. It's giving, and receiving, unconditional love from a furry friend.
Fostering is vital for what we do at AARF. Giving animals a second chance at happiness means we NEED fosters to grant that opportunity. By becoming a foster, you increase AARF's ability to help animals in need. By fostering, you become a part of the solution to help animals find a family of their own.
AARF knows there are a lot of questions around fostering. Let us help answer some of those questions!
What does it cost to foster? Nothing! It's free to be a foster! AARF covers the cost of medical care, food, toys, p*e pads, and anything else your pet needs to live a healthy life in your home. All you have to do is love on your dog or cat until the time comes to send them home.
How long can I foster? As long as you like. We usually ask that fosters keep their rescue pet until they get adopted, but life is pretty crazy. If you can only do a couple of weeks, we can work with that! Only able to foster on an emergency basis? We'll reach out when we need the help!
But what if I fall in love? Then you get to adopt! There's no shame in becoming a "foster fail" and adopting the cat or dog you said you'd only watch temporarily. We understand that sometimes those tail wags are just too good to say no to.
Big dogs, small dogs, puppies, kittens, seniors, there is something for everyone. AARF believes that all animals deserve a second chance, but we can only help them with you by our side! Comfortable loving on a big dog? Sign up! We could use your experience! Know all about bottle feeding? Step on up! We can save even more lives if you can help us nurse babies!
