Meet the newest member of our team, Dr. McKenzie! Growing up in Connecticut and inspired by the stories of James Herriot, Dr. McKenzie knew from an early age that she wanted to be a veterinarian.

After obtaining her BS in Animal Science and her DVM from Cornell University, she worked as the herd veterinarian on a large dairy farm in upstate NY for 3 years before moving to VA. Dr. McKenzie then spent the next 25 years at a mixed animal practice where she transitioned to primarily caring for dogs and cats.

Her family shares a passion for food, escape rooms, Legos, roller coasters and the beach. She is also enthusiastic about her vegetable garden in the summer and enjoys crocheting, sewing and crafts.
 
Fun fact- In high school, Dr. Jess was a volunteer at the clinic where Dr. McKenzie was working!
