We were so excited when our sweet, timid girl, Gemma, got adopted but unfortunately her adopter decided she just was not ready to commit to the responsibility of a pup after all, so Gemma has been returned to our rescue 😞

While this was a sad thing, Gemma didn’t get that memo because she was so happy to be back with her fur friends and kept the smiles and kisses going around…she even put herself in Meika’s crate with Meika (her very bestest friend) and had us cracking up!

Don’t worry my beautiful Gem…we will find you your forever! ❤️🐾

Roseburg, OR
Marvin the Martian has developed quite the “bully” attitude 😬

A year and a half ago we drove to Southern California to rescue this Frenchie and he has been in the same foster home but has recently started going after the other dogs in the home when he gets in a mood so we need to move this boy either to a new foster home (within 1 hr of downtown Roseburg) or an adoptive home with no other dogs!
He still seems to be doing OK with the cat. 

Marvin is a 2 yo blue Merle French Bulldog that was being attacked by other dogs in his previous home and now seems to be repeating what happened to him.
Marvin is considered special needs because he has malformed vertebrae and he paddle walks (you can message us for video of how he walks) and he also has the typical Frenchie allergies and requires prescription food and medication.

We absolutely love Marvin. In his mind, he is the size of a mastiff and just as tough, but this princess really loves to cuddle, be pampered and watch ducks waddle on TV. 😆
Marvin is great in the car, loves toys, chases the vacuum hose and is an all around personality plus!

Anya was adopted out as a puppy but returned to our rescue just before her first birthday.
Now 2 yrs old, she has been with our Rescue for a year with no real interest and her foster home is no longer able to foster her so we desperately need a Foster or Adopter for Anya.

Anya is good with other friendly dogs (big and small), calm respectful kids (8yrs and older) but has no experience with cats.

Anya is a true athlete and *loves* balls and is a water dog. She would love a family that would take her to outings (camping, hiking) but also that would cuddle up on the couch with her. She is 98% APBT.

Anya has been through board and train with Frankly Dog Training LLC and is housebroken and crate trained. She is spayed, current on shots and microchipped.

Scruffy is now available for adoption!
Scruffy is an approx 12-18 mos old male small breed with lots of energy but he also loves to play on his own and cuddle with you.

Scruffy does well with other active friendly dogs but may annoy calm or older dogs. Good with cats.
He is toy and treat motivated.

He is neutered, current on shots and microchipped.
Currently fostered in Winston, OR.

Whew! I need things to slow down but it’s just not happening 😞

For the last 1-2 weeks Fenrir, our sanctuary wolfdog, has not been acting right.
We are not sure what’s going on but he also has not been as active so we called our vet to get him on the schedule today to get some diagnostics to figure out what is going on.

Many of you have met Fenrir and know he is a sweet, crazy bundle of energy that keeps us on our toes (usually) and we love to use him to bring to events and out in the public to educate people on wolfdogs. He is a mascot to the rescue but also our (big 😬) baby boy.

We want to thank Chally Standley for contacting us when she found out there was a huge need for dog food in Douglas County, with so many of our neighbors and homeless struggling right now to feed their pups!

We went up and loaded 4 pallets of dog food (only 3 fit on the trailer but we had another pallet loaded in my van). Thank you to Kristie Mapes and her husband, Chip, for loaning us their trailer last minute to go get this food for our community when the rental place in Sutherlin refused, telling us our Durango (with Hemi) wouldn’t be able to pull this (even though it is rated for it and it did just fine!)

Some of this has been distributed to the Roseburg Dream Center and more will be donated to organizations that deal with homeless and those in need.

Let’s make sure 2025 starts out with filling the belly’s of our community’s pups! 🐾

Copper is a 14 mo old male St Bernard/Rottweiler/Newfoundland mix that is in need of a foster home ASAP within 1 hr of downtown Roseburg.

Copper is a sweet (but strong) boy who can be very gentle, very loving and the best companion!
He is good with autistic kids and would be a great companion for a Veteran.

He is said to be good with cats but no other dogs at this time.

When we started our rescue we messed some stuff up so we ended up getting a nonprofit attorney and re-did our rescue, this time also including “and Sanctuary” to our name.

Why did we do that? We did it for dogs like Hanna. Dumped by her family due to old age and ailing from doggie dementia at a high kill, very stressful shelter.

Hanna is not our first sanctuary animal, nor will she be our last, as we currently have quite a few sanctuary animals in our rescue.

We got 8 mos with this girl. She learned to not only trust me but also to find safety when curled up next to me, in my arms or with my PitBull, who doted over her.

After seeing her increased anxiety and confusion and the way it impacted her safety and quality of life, with the assistance of our vet, the decision was made to let this girl go meet up once again with our boy, Spud, and with Zoey and other senior pups that we have loved, provided sanctuary for and lost.

This little girl gave us many laughs and she will always be remembered and forever missed 💔

Today has definitely been a difficult and depressing day 😞

This beautiful boy is Rocco. We rescued Rocco from the Riverside Animal Shelter (CA) back in 2018. After allowing an out of state foster to adopt situation that did not work out, Rocco came back to us but in 2019 when we were preparing to move to Oregon so Rocco was transferred to a trusted friend and sister rescuer, Nancy, with Ozzie and Friends Rescue- Save a Life.

One of Nancy’s volunteers ended up falling in love with Rocco and adopted him. Through the years Nancy kept me updated on Rocco, which I appreciated so very much, and today she messaged to let me know that Rocco was not doing well so his mom sent him to the Rainbow Bridge 🌈

Rocco loved it when I would hang out on the floor with him and he would rest his big blocky head on my feet. He loved people and even after he was fixed he still had a little bit of escapism in his spirit, just enough to cause a bit of an anxiety attack 😬

The shelter wanted to kill Rocco, but between us and Nancy’s rescue, Rocco got a future and a life with a human who loved him and his rescuers will forever love and miss him.
RIP Rocco ❤️💔
