Day 2 of the Buck Brannaman clinic!

Sebona is starting to settle in a little more. This is a significant accomplishment for a horse with minimal life experience.

We also like to use Gallagher's water enhancer when we haul our horses, including Sebona, who hasn't been hauled very often. Since it's been really cold this week, we made sure to bring plenty of Gallagher's water enhancer when we took him to Ocala, just to encourage him to stay hydrated. We offered him a bucket of plain water and another with the enhancer, making sure he's well cared for and stays comfortable in a new environment. Keeping him hydrated in unfamiliar places is always a top priority for us.

Wow, just think about all the incredible care our horses received in 2025! With 64 pages of receipts from our veterinarian, it really shows how much love and attention go into their well-being—from routine check-ups, vaccines, and dentals to emergency care and castrations. The total cost for the year was $19,426.19, which was our entire budget back when we started this journey 18 years ago.

This does not include the invoices from our lameness specialist or any major surgeries that required hospitalization.

You can make a real difference by becoming a stall sponsor! Right now, five horses are sponsored out of our 51. Your sponsorship of just $300 helps cover essential costs like a Coggins test, dental, and two sets of vaccines. Every bit of support helps ensure our horses stay happy and healthy!

Our veterinarian will be here Monday to start on our yearly routine check-ups.

Today, we're excited to be in Ocala, dropping off Sebona and volunteer L.A. Gonsalves for the Buck Brannaman clinic! A dear friend and supporter gifted us a spot in the Foundation portion of the clinic, which we're truly grateful for. We're always working hard to deepen our understanding so we can better care for the horses that come through our barn.

It's farrier week at the barn! Each time we trim a horse, we take their weight as well, which really helps us personalize their feeding schedules to meet their specific needs. Knowing a horse's weight is truly valuable—it ensures our veterinarian can give the right medication doses, helps us determine the correct amount of dewormer, and even allows us to catch any health concerns early on. If a horse starts losing or gaining a lot of weight without any change in diet, it prompts us to do a full check-up to see what's happening. It's all about keeping our horses happy, healthy, and well cared for.

If you checked out our wishlist, you might have noticed the metal dog tags and wondered what they are for. We have a lively rotation of horses and volunteers here, and staying organized is always a fun challenge! To help with this, we color code our horses based on a traffic light system. This makes it easy for everyone, especially those new to horses, to quickly understand and remember the levels.

Green: Go! These horses are typically well-trained and gentle.
Yellow: Caution! These horses can sometimes be a bit unpredictable and may be nervous or cautious around people.
Red: Stop! These horses haven’t been fully evaluated or may display some dangerous behaviors.

We put these tags on each horse’s equipment—like halters, blankets, fly sheets, and saddles—which helps us find the right horse quickly and keeps everyone safe, including our volunteers and visitors!

A big thank you to the generous donor who sent us some red tags this week! We currently have quite a few horses in the red category, and your support makes all the difference.

We bought a cheap laser machine on Amazon and keep it at the barn. It works great.

Bryant and Thunder absolutely love their hay ball! They immediately leave the hay in the feeders as soon as they see us place it out. It keeps them entertained, which is always a big plus for lively two-year-olds!

What a lovely evening to finish up our online show videos! Bryant, Dama, and Acapella are all entered into an in-hand trail class, and we're looking forward to seeing them shine.
