Wanting to donate to CARE via Facebook? We’re not quite there yet.

Story time. So as most of you know we were erroneously “suspended” from the IRS for not filing. That came out to be false so they reinstated us after a long agonizing waiting period. We have all documentation showing we are “good to go” but of course the IRS dropped the ball elsewhere.

In order to receive electronic donations via Facebook or some other platforms they utilize PayPal Giving Fund. This platform pulls data from a website run by the IRS. Well, when the IRS reinstated us they didn’t update this website so this is the only place that still shows us suspended. PayPal told us we could send in the letters we received from the IRS saying we were reinstated - but since it’s an automated process where it automatically checks that website it will remove us from receiving funds quickly.

So, we wait. We wait on the IRS to change one date on a website to allow donations. This nightmare was to be done almost a year ago! But, of course, it’s the IRS. They’re saying it ‘should’ be fixed by the end of October.

In the meantime you can still donate to CARE. We will graciously accept and use your donation 100% towards Trap-Neuter-Return. I know I’ve slacked with posting our financials since this IRS fiasco began because quite frankly we didn’t have any financials to show. We were stalled from doing anything. I’ll commit to working on this. We’ve shown for years that your donations are fully going to TNR and we commit to that continuously. We aren’t comparing ourselves to other rescues because each one has to have their own niche. But I can say for us we aren’t using your donations towards ANY personal expenditures for the Board like others. We are not using donations for anything except TNR surgeries, our Setmore account ($200/year), website hosting and 501(c)3 related fees from the government. Every single penny goes towards TNR - not to help our Board members with personal expenses.

We even took on a credit card recently (the first that I know that CARE had) because it was a huge percentage cash back when we pay with the card. So we roll those monies back into TNR. Our most recent cash out from the credit card was $1,287.42. That’s 25 TNR surgeries just because we use a credit card!

We’ve invested our donations into CDs to get funds that way. We are trying everything outside of traditional donations to get more surgeries covered.

If you’d like to donate to keep CARE going strong you can do so via our PayPal or Zelle email [email protected] or via snail mail PO Box 4552, Winter Park, FL 32793 or even CashApp $CARETNR

As I said every single penny goes back into helping the cats. We really are making a difference one cat at a time.

78 cats in ONE day. This is amazing work. This is from a small county in Pennsylvania. It’s actually where I was raised as a kid and I’m so glad to see they’ve embraced TNR practices. McKean County has a whopping population of only 40,000 people!!!

979 square miles of territory for this organization, almost the same of Orange County where we have 1,003 square miles.

CARE is pleased to be a recipient of the Florida Animal Friend grant for the 2024/2025 season. With this grant we will spay/neuter 500 cats via Trap-Neuter-Return in West Orange County. Continue booking appointments as you do now and we will track all address to see which fall within the grant criteria.

We would never have this ability if it weren’t for those in Florida sporting the Florida Animal Friend license plate. If you don’t have one we highly encourage you to get one.

Sometimes TNR is about numbers that we don’t all agree with. Sometimes we just need to turn the other way and realize it’s a necessary evil and without it we’d be swimming in even more cats.

Running our report at CARE in the last 12 months we have prevented a total of 464 kittens being born on the streets of Orange County. 464! Just imagine if those 464 were actually born, how much more overwhelmed you’d be today.

It’s a necessary evil that nobody enjoys, but we know it must be done.

Total TNR: 1307 | Male: 603 | Female: 704 | Stage 1: 55 | Stage 2: 25 | Stage 3: 47 | Fetus: 464 | In Heat: 81
