Let’s talk puppies 🐶 I’ll answer some commonly asked questions about puppy grooms below❓⬇️🖊️✔️

When do you get your puppies first groom? The sooner the better! I recommend 2 weeks after their second set of shots to get puppies at the groomer for the first time ☝️🐾 🫧

Why is starting early so important? Puppies’ first couple grooms should be centered around desensitization and positive association. This is the key to having a confident pup who enjoys the grooming experience as an adult as part of their normal routine. We want to set up your puppy for success for grooming for the rest of their lives! 🫶

What should be included in the first groom? The first few (1-4) grooming appointments should be for getting them used to the process in a positive way by doing baths or mini grooms only. Working them into a full groom (haircut) over time is the key as to not overstimulate them. 🫧🐶✨

How often should I get my puppy groomed? Every 4-6 weeks depending on hair type and length of hair is ideal. If you have a fluffy puppy who requires haircuts, or even a shedding puppy who needs a deshed, 4-6 is the sweet spot to maintain their skin, hair, and nail health. 📆🐾

Did you know Pomeranians are one of my all time favorite breeds to groom? My Pomeranian, Amber, was actually the reason I got into grooming! I remember seeing her after getting groomed for the first time and being blown away by how different and beautiful she looked! 🤍 She was also my practice dog when I was learning and in grooming school (lucky her 😜). She passed a few years ago. But Pomeranian’s will always hold a special place in my heart 🫶🐾
