Keep your pets safe around water this summer! 🌊🐾 Not all dogs are natural swimmers, so never leave them unsupervised. Introduce them to water slowly to assess their swimming skills and consider using a flotation device.

Always provide fresh drinking water and prevent your pets from drinking pool water, as chlorine and other chemicals can make them sick. Saltwater can also be harmful. 🏖

After a swim, rinse your pets off to remove chlorine or salt from their fur. Let's ensure a fun and safe time for our furry friends! 🐶🚤💧

🚨 Keep an eye on your furry friends during hot weather! Symptoms of overheating in pets include excessive panting, increased heart rate, drooling, and weakness. Severely affected pets may seem dazed, uncoordinated, or may even collapse. If you notice any of these signs, take action immediately to cool them down and seek veterinary care.

🔥 Asphalt can burn your pet’s paw pads in hot, sunny weather. If it’s too hot for you to comfortably leave a hand or a bare foot on it for more than several seconds, it’s probably too hot for your pet’s paws, too!

🚗 Never leave your pets alone in parked vehicles. Never leave your pets in a hot car! Even on mild days, the temperature inside a parked car can quickly rise to dangerous levels, putting your furry friends at serious risk of heatstroke or worse. If you can't bring them with you, it's safer to leave them at home.

🌡️ Dogs that are Hot ❌

Only one kind of Hot Dog is good in the summer! 🌭 We all love spending sunny summer days outside with our pets, but hot weather can be dangerous for them. Here are some tips to keep your furry friends safe in the heat:

💧 Pets can overheat and get dehydrated quickly. Ensure they have plenty of clean water and a shady spot to rest when outdoors for extended periods.

💨 Dogs cool off by panting, but they struggle in humid conditions. It might be safer to keep them indoors when it's hot and humid.

⛅ Flat-faced breeds like Pugs, Bulldogs, and Persian cats, along with elderly, overweight pets, and those with medical conditions like laryngeal paralysis, are at higher risk for heatstroke. Walk these pets during cooler times, like early morning, and keep them indoors with AC during hot and humid weather.

💈 Some pets are more comfortable with a summer haircut to shorten their hair, but don’t shave them completely – their hair protects them from sunburn.

🐰 Hippity, hoppity, Easter is on its way, and so is potential danger to your pets. Here are four items that can pose a risk:

🌷 The Easter Lily – While one of the most popular plants this time of the year, it is also one of the most poisonous. Easter lilies are highly toxic to cats. Additionally, the Tiger Lily, Rubrum Lily, Japanese Show Lily and certain species of the Daylily are also poisonous to cats. Avoid any bouquets with lilies and instead opt for a safer option like Easter orchids, roses, or daisies.

🍫 Chocolate – Easter baskets are often overflowing with chocolate eggs and rabbits. Animals are extremely sensitive to theobromine and caffeine. High levels of both are found in dark and baking chocolate. Ingesting dark or baking chocolate can be fatal for pets.

🍬 Sugar-free gum and candies – These items are often made with xylitol, a sugar substitute that causes a dog’s blood sugar to drop quickly. This poisoning can be treated but causes liver failure if not treated properly.

🌿 Easter basket grass – The springtime version of Christmas tinsel entices both canines and felines alike. Easter basket grass can cause choking or intestinal obstruction in pets if ingested.
