PALS Low-Cost Feline Veterinary Service Low-cost veterinary care for cats PALS feline veterinary service is the only low-cost, non-profit veterinary clinic in Maine. We operate on a drop off basis.

We are located within the walls of the PALS No Kill Cat Shelter. We offer full-service feline (CAT ONLY) veterinary care. That means more than just spay/neuter! An appointment is required. Due to severe illness amongst our staff we are running extremely short handed.

Please be patient with us. If someone can’t get to the phone please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
You can also contact us via email at [email protected] or through our Facebook messenger. We can handle appointments, med refills and most basic questions electronically.

If your pet is experiencing an emergency please call one of the local emergency clinics or urgent care facilities.

PALS No-Kill Cat Shelter and PALS Low-Cost Feline Veterinary Service will be closed on Wednesday, October 9th in order to upgrade our generator. Both the shelter and clinic will be open usual hours on Thursday, October 10th.

We just wanted to make a quick PSA.

Our phones and internet will be down for a period today due to Spectrum coming to upgrade our service. Please be patient with us and please call one of the local urgent care facilities if you need immediate care for your kitty.

Here at PALS Low-Cost Feline Veterinary clinic we are a very small team. We only have one receptionist and she only has one set of hands. We also only have one phone line. If she is already talking to a client, you will hear a busy signal when you try to call. Please wait 10-15 min and try again. If you call and the phone goes to our machine, please leave a message. This means that our receptionist is currently working with a client in the lobby, helping the other technicians hold a cat or she is eating lunch. She will call you back if you leave a message. Please do not hang up and call back over and over again. Please do not hang up and call the shelter line. The shelter will not be able to help you with your clinic related questions.

PALS Low-Cost Feline Veterinary Service is seeking a part-time veterinarian(s) for Mondays and Fridays. We are proud to be the only non-profit, full service, feline only veterinary clinic in the state of Maine. The clinic is located inside the PALS No-Kill Cat Shelter in Winthrop, Maine. The shelter has been saving Maine cats since 1980. In 2019 we moved our veterinary care in-house, and in 2021 we began offering low-cost services to the public. Our mission is to provide the highest possible care within the client’s budget in order to keep more cats in their current homes and out of shelters. We have been steadily growing every day since we opened, and now we need some help. We have in-house labs, x-ray, ultrasound, oxygen cage, incubator, IV fluid pumps and IV-line warmers. We strive for a high standard of care despite being low-cost. We are seeking a cat-loving veterinarian to join our unique team. We are happy to have a new grad or a seasoned doctor. We can tailor the appointment types to your particular skill set. No holidays and no weekends. Benefits and pay are negotiable and dependent on experience. PALS Low-Cost Feline Veterinary Service is looking to add a member to our team! We are looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant. Must be at least 18yo, have reliable transportation and be able to work with cats daily. Must be able to safely hold cats. Must have basic reading and computer skills. Must be willing to work as a team and communicate with clients as well as the vet and shelter teams. Experience handling cats in a veterinary setting, veterinary software and general knowledge of veterinary practice preferred but not a requirement. Duties will include assisting the technicians and veterinarian with cat procedures, helping clients with needs such as refilling medications and answering questions, performing necessary veterinary duties within the shelter such as refilling medications, giving medications, safely holding cats, keeping good records etc. You will also help the team with caring for in-patients and keeping the clinic areas clean. Potential for job growth as the clinic grows too! Pay depends on experience and we do have a small benefits package available after 90 days of work. Hours are 9am-5pm M-Th and 9am-4pm on Fridays.
