Mason seemed really interested in the tv today. He sat there and watched for a while and then finally laid down. This very well could have been his first time seeing/hearing a tv! Mason did so well that he has an invitation to come back for another visit! It's nice for our dogs to get a break from the shelter routine even if just for the day!!
Cupcake wasn't interested in her bowl of only dry food and refused to eat it. When she first arrived at the shelter two weeks ago, she scarfed down almost anything. Now she expects a little wet food in her bowl! We told her she should appreciate whatever food she gets.
AND THEN, gave her a whole can of wet food!
We have no clue how these dogs get so spoiled!!
Dixie is waiting to exhale!
Our sweet Dixie came to us over 2 years ago. We often don't know much about our animals' past life but we wonder what type of experience Dixie had. She's been quite shy since we've had her and always seems like she's waiting for something bad to happen. When people visit her room, she often makes herself hidden or simply shuts her eyes and tenses up. She has reluctantly accepted continued visits and head scratches from one of our volunteers. We're not sure but she may actually be somewhat enjoying it in this video. Dixie is an older gal, almost 7 years old and deserves to retire to a home where she can finally relax.
Bronx has been enjoying his weekly trips away from the shelter! Nothing special, just a walk around a neighborhood for a little exercise and new smells. Bronx is such an enjoyable dog to walk. He zigzags a little but almost zero pulling. He's just your all around good boy!
Introducing Aurora!!
One of our playrooms houses our long-term residents and one of our dog volunteers likes to go over and hang out with them. She was surprised when a new resident came over and introduced herself! Aurora is a friendly, breathtakingly beautiful cat! Welcome to PAWS gorgeous girl!!
Introducing Sunshine and Cupcake!!
You may recognize these beagle girls as the lost dogs we posted Saturday. They were running loose in Murfreesboro when good samaritans were able to capture them. They're now staying with us! Welcome to PAWS ladies!
Special thanks to Bronx for being on the Welcoming Committee!!
Bronx has been at PAWS of Hertford County for over 7 months!! We can't believe this gentle, loving fella is still here! He is the best role model for our pups but it's time he finds a home of his own!!
Maci is the Queen of the puproom at PAWS as she is currently our only female resident! She can play in the mud and wrestle with the boys but she's also the first one to SIT for treats! Maci is 7 months old and has been in the shelter for approximately 4 months. She's doing great with learning routines, leash walking skills. Can you imagine how great she'd do in a home environment?! We hope she finds her family soon!
Hazel and Dixie are 2 of our long term tabby residents. Leslie, the black kitty, also popped in for a little attention!
Bronx may be just a teeny tiny bit spoiled! But he's just so cute!!!
Willie the Wonderful is settling in quite nicely! When we first met him, he was so sick we tried to prepare ourselves for the possibility that he wouldn't make it. But in true PAWS form, Willie has totally thrived! He can be a little nervous and sometimes startles when we reach in his cage, maybe from all those yucky medicines he used to take. Willie is a shining example that every kitty deserves a loving family. For now, we're honored to be that family!!
Mason is doing so well with his leash training!! He is still nervous of new people and new noises but is highly treat motivated! He is comfortable with the volunteers he's most familiar with and will follow them around. Usually hoping for treats! He loves to play with other dogs and will often follow their lead so a confident dog in the home could be beneficial! He has come such a long way from the scared puppy who buried his face in the corner. We are so proud of our Mason!!
