For anyone who doesnât know my little Dexter and how this adventure started, I will tell you the story.
My son and I were driving to go hunting on the second day of opening gun hunt. As we were driving my son stated that there was a little white dog in the woods and knowing where we were we stopped. There were no houses around and it was mostly mill land with pine trees. It was supposed to be very cold that night.
We backed up and I slowly approached this little scared to death fur ball. He would not let me too close so I squatted down and moved closer and closer to him. After about 15 minutes I caught him.
He was severely matted, wet, and dirty. We took him with us to the land we hunt on. He stayed in the house while we went hunting but my son couldnât help himself and decided to go back to the house to stay with the dog.
Once at home we shaved him down and his âpeltâ must have been hurting him. He felt so much better after shaved. We did post him on Facebook, called the police dept and the humane society. We also took him to the vet to check for a chip but there was not one located, the vet said he was between 9 and 12 months. For the first week he was very attached to my son and pretty much stayed in his room. After about a week, we decided we were going to help find him a home. While looking for a home, I was miserable thinking of losing him. We decided he needed to stay.
My little buddy today is my perfect companion, he follows me everywhere and loves to go with me no matter where I go. He has a fear of men and for a long time he was afraid of car rides, I canât help but wonder what happened to my Sexy Dexy in the short life he had before us.
