Not a normal "update" but I determined this was important to share.

Beware a new scam, my client was half-scammed but caught it, but others around her Rochester suburb (trying to keep this anonymous) have already lost large sums of money.

Likely related to a social security administration breach in April when EVERYONE'S name, social security number, and address were stolen...

My client had someone call "from the bank" to say they were with security and needed help securing her account because information had been hacked.

They knew my client's name, address, social security number, birthday, bank, and bank account numbers... Very convincing.

They wanted 2 things: 1) access to her computer while she went online
2) her to withdraw a large amount of cash to keep in her house temporarily.

So they could electronically steal from her after getting her keystrokes, OR COME TO HER HOUSE.
She turned off her computer and reported it to the bank (LNB), which admitted others already lost money to this. They told her she did the right thing.
They are making her change all her accounts, and police checked on her house for a few days.
She's fine, because she was smart and perhaps also lucky.

But I want all my clients to be warned.

My goal is to grow into a pet business that is as much a 1-stop-shop for pet related services as I can.

I'm cautiously going to start accepting clients for dog training sessions, based on numerous requests. I am not certified in this, but have a great deal of experience. I use Force Free methods.

Also my husband is helping the business expand by allowing me to offer more services like pet-fence installation and clipper blade sharpening for other groomers or vets (since he maintains my blades already). Consider blade maintenance to blade replacement and get the most from your tools...

Spring is also the most common time to clean the p**p from your yard to make it usable for people again. Either my husband or I may come to perform this service for you.

The Holidays are fast approaching, and this is usually one of the busiest times of year for a small business (ok, any size business).

And during this chaotic time I should be advertising and making a big media push.
But I don't want to.

I'll be at the Lyons Farmers' Market this Saturday (8am-noon) for the Pet Day Parade!
I'll also be doing free nail trims, handing out business flyers, showcasing a toy that may help some nervous dogs file their own nails, and sharing just a couple handouts taken from one of my favorite dog trainers ( Dog Educated ) on things nail trim acclimation, greeting guests at the door, and playing Tug to teach self control in a fun way.

I suspect my custom bandanas will not arrive on time, but fingers crossed.

I'll be there doing nail trims, and talking about my business. I also hope to have informative handouts about the business and tricks to help get your pets more comfortable with nail trims and grooming.

Need petsitting?
My husband and I offer visits to check on your pets while you're away ($15+tax per visit, 15 minutes, # of pets doesn't matter)
and now
my stepdaughter would like to offer pet sitting where she stays in your home with your animals when you go! Keeping everyone as comfortable as possible.

If I go on vacation, Holly staying in my home with my pets is definitely my first choice!

The passing of my Zoey, and the preparation for it, meant I engaged in some of that "Memorabilia Creation" that I suggested I might be able to offer for you and your pets.

Zoey got a bigger and nicer stone than I have readily available for others, but it does show a simple idea of what I can do.
I made hers in under 1 day and will likely deepen the engraving, which is in a sandstone slab.
Staining or coloring sandstone would also be possible, if a client desired.

The pawprint canvas I used is on an 8x12 (approximately) with a prepainted background and "walking" prints (as opposed to a pressed print of a paw). I chose to do hers on my porch and let her leave a trail of prints behind as well, but it can be done more neatly. Pressed pawprints on a small plain canvas would be the cheapest/easiest way to go.

Pet crematory services often offer clay or ink pawprints as well, and I have nothing against them... I just like knowing my dog made this when she was still alive.
Zoey obliged me by just 6 hours or so. I suggest more notice than that if you want this for your pup.

Contact me for pricing, as each item would be unique in appearance and effort. (Also, I'm more likely to do it cheaply for pets I know well due to being regular clients)

We are stunned. Thrive didn't even have the decency to notify the hospital staff. We found this by chance. They didn't even intend for us to see it.

They are also flat out lying when they say they "explored multiple options". They chose this path by exploiting the compassion of every. single. staff member.

Since they took over in May 2021, Thrive has done everything in their power to bring this hospital down. From day 1, they refused to negotiate contracts with our doctors. The doctors still stayed. We have a community of pet owners who need them.

Shortly after, the support staff realized that we needed to protect ourselves, so we successfully organized our union.

Make no mistake, this is a result of corporate greed. The private equity firm that owns Thrive cares nothing about our community or our beloved pets.

Call them and ask them how many ti.es they've raised the prices at all of the area hospitals that they own since they took over.

I'm thinking of adding "Memorabilia Creation" to my services. Things like making paw prints from clay, or with paint and canvas, from your pets paws. I also have been known to carve a headstone or 2.
Is there interest in anything like that?
