This month we will be donating to Wayne County Humane Society.

“Twigloo Farms is the beloved creation of Burdock Broughton, a professor and librarian who lives on a small farm in New York.
Burdock has been making salves since 2008 and soaps since 2014. Everything else has emerged from that initial exploration and love of working with herbs and making things for friends and family. They completed their Medicinal Herbs Certificate through Cornell University in 2023.

Burdock focuses on including plants, and natural colorants in their soaps, shampoos, salves, and lotions. They partner with local businesses for ingredients as often as possible. Their work is always small batch and palm free, and they enjoy working on custom orders. They love teaching, and can be found in the classroom at Sarah’s Country Barn and Farm House Fabulous, and they hope to be hosting classes on the farm itself in the near future. They share space on their farm with extensive gardens, a small herd of alpaca, a trio of young goats, a baffling number of chickens, a social turkey, a house full of cats, and a very understanding husband.”

What is crystal candy?
Crystal candy, also known as kohakutou, is gemstone like candy made through the process of combining agar agar (vegan gelatin) and sugar , allowing it to crystalize which creates a crunchy crust and a soft, jelly inside—similar to jello.

What a lovely afternoon snack. Puck, Chewie, and I nibbled on wild raspberries while Gambol feasted on one of her favorite delicacies. Any guesses as to what that was?
