When the temperatures climb and the sun is blaring the DFDT pack loves to be in the water.
We upgraded to a five foot kiddie pool this year so two out of three dogs can fit in there at once. (Gambol prefers to take a dip by herself.)
I don't fill it more than a couple inches because, inevitably, one of the boys (no points for guessing which one) will p*e in it and I am constantly emptying and refilling it.

Still going on the premise of “hen until proven otherwise” we are egg-cited to announce that our egg production team is four stronger today (with two more eggs in the incubator).
What a lovely afternoon snack. Puck, Chewie, and I nibbled on wild raspberries while Gambol feasted on one of her favorite delicacies. Any guesses as to what that was?
I’m so excited (ridiculously excited) to announce our (it was a team effort - broody hen and I are sharing the credit) that our (her) first attempt at hatching our (her) own eggs was a success!! 🐣 Pip and Squeak hatched sometime over the weekend She was holding on for the third egg to hatch but, I blame the first time thing, neither she nor I realized it was a ceramic egg until I checked it this morning. 🤦♀️ We added Gigantor (shoutout Supernatural) for flock protection but also to close the loop and be able to maintain and increase our numbers ourselves (themselves, you know what I mean). 🐓 Maybe now we (they) will be able to keep up with egg demand for all the dog treats we make.
It’s cold but it’s also muddy. That means indoor activities! I break up a couple treats into a towel, roll it up, tie it in a knot, and voila! Three minutes (give or take depending on how tight the knot was) of enrichment.
I’m totally loving my new set up!
