Ollie was rescued as a stray and has severe trust and anxiety issues. On our fourth visit together, he has begun showing signs of faith and confidence. That is always the goal. By the looks of that smile I’d say we’re going to be good friends from now on. Good boy Ollie!

The final amount of animals removed from the property is 22 dogs, 3 cats, 5 snakes, and 2 geckos.

This case comes at a moment in which the shelter is at capacity.

There are four ways in which the community can help us right now:

Foster: We are looking for foster homes to take animals ASAP, but we have limited information on breed, ages, temperaments, etc. As the situation shifts, we will be able to provide more on the status of the animals, but please apply at https://berksarl.org/foster/ if you are willing to open your home to some of these animals in need. If you are already an existing foster, please contact [email protected].

Volunteer: We will be at full capacity once these animals return, taxing an already short staff. If you have time in your day to assist with laundry, cleaning, food preparation, or any other support task for the next few weeks, please fill out a volunteer application at https://berksarl.org/volunteer/ or email [email protected] if you are already an active volunteer.

Adopt: Thanks to Bissell Pet Foundation, all currently available adult dogs and cats are free to adopt through Tuesday, October 15th. Visit https://berksarl.org/pets/ to see who is available right now.

Donate: We know of at least one very thin senior pet who needs to be seen by our medical team the moment it arrives. These animals will need vaccines and spay/neuter surgeries, as well as the standard care of food, housing resources, etc. You can donate at https://berksarl.org/berksdonates/ or contact [email protected].

This remains an open investigation. More information will be provided as the case progresses.

Humane Police Officers from the ARL's Department of Animal Protection are on scene at a property in Womelsdorf rescuing approximately 30 dogs and 4 cats from a house being condemned. This is an inter-agency effort between the ARL and local police. The animal’s conditions are not yet known, and all pets will be transported back to the shelter for assessment and care. With only 15 dog kennels currently open, the ARL is going to need community support in the coming days. Details to follow.

Bernie deserves a nose boop for being such a good boy. He was previously dismissed from other groomers, and on only our second visit there is huge improvement. Sometimes all these precious souls need is patience, love and understanding. Im here for ya Bernie. ❤️
