🚨 Please Help Duke! 🚨
We are urgently asking for the public’s support with one of our shelter dogs. Some of you may recognize this handsome guy—Duke.
Duke was brought in as a stray on June 20th. Thanks to the diligence of our ACOs, we discovered where he came from. Over time, staff worked closely with him. In that time, we’ve come to know Duke as he truly is: a goofy shepherd with a soft spot for cookies, guidance, and attention.
Unfortunately, on Labor Day (September 1st), Duke’s health took a sudden turn. What started as a normal morning quickly shifted when our ACO noticed Duke becoming lethargic and showing concerning symptoms. Officer Massimo recognized the possibility of bloat, a life-threatening condition, and immediately rushed Duke to Central Veterinary Hospital.
There, Duke was examined and found to have large amounts of air in his stomach and little to no intestinal movement. He was admitted overnight for round-the-clock care, had repeat X-rays, and required an NG tube to relieve the trapped air. Thanks to the quick action of our observant officer, Duke was spared from what could have been a fatal, painful event—and is now thankfully on the mend. ❤️🩹
But we can’t do this alone. Duke’s emergency bill came to $2,669.34, and we are urgently asking for your help.
📞 We ask Donations to be called in directly to Central Veterinary Hospital (203-865-0878) on behalf of Woodbridge Animal Control – Duke.
Every bit makes a difference for this boy who’s already fought so hard. Thank you for your support! 🙏🐾
