✨ANNOUNCING✨ the start of the ‘Kaz’s Pantry’ to help families in food stress provide good nutrition for their pets also!🐾🐾🐕‍🦺🐈

Over the last several weeks, the struggle of households to feed their families has come into focus. Megan Houlihan, director of the Community Services Council of Woodbury, reports that as much as 35% of the households have pets. The pet food supply for them is inconsistent at best.
After weeks of discussing how best to sustainably help, we will be starting a program to organize and generate pet foods for the pantries in our surrounding area. It is named in memory of a remarkable dog who NEVER let adversity suppress his zest for life and his equally remarkable Dad who never gave up on him. His story will be told soon!
We will be organizing local drop off points and announcing them on social media in the weeks to come. This program will be evolving as we go. I welcome input from anybody that wants to help. We start today with the first drop off point at our clinic and we will match dollar for dollar any donation left here. We need bags of dry and cans for both dogs and cats. We need smaller bags so that they can be given directly to the families unopened and don’t have to be broken up. We would like to keep those under 15 pounds. It will be easier for the pantries if we donate actual pet food, so any money that’s donated will be used to purchase food from retailers I am reaching out to. Details to follow. Let’s all kick in to help these folks feed the companions that give them so much solace and comfort.
Thank You in advance!!
The staff of Davis Companion Animal Hospital.

COURTESY POST

Update! Brian and Brandon are home safe! This morning an employee of Statewide Auto Body on the Berlin Turnpike heard dogs barking in the woods and called Meriden Animal Control. MAC officers, Officer Kline and Officer Bacon went out to the area to investigate and were led to the location by their barking. The family was called and came out to help secure the dogs. They were very cold and scared but when they saw their pack they became relieved. They knew they were going home. Many thanks to so many people. Thank you to the person who called. Thank you to our wonderful Meriden Animal Control officers who are always there when needed. Thank you to CTDGRV volunteers, Emma, Linda, John and Carol who helped with posters and flyers to get the word out and searched woods. Desmonds Army for their support. Community members who shared the post and cared. Together they are now safe and home. They will go to the vet for a check up and their family is looking into gps collars. Thank you! This is a very good day for these two boys! Reunion picture in comments

Missing dogs Alert – Meriden, CT
Issued by CT Dog Gone Recovery Volunteers, Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates and Meriden Animal Control

We are asking for the public’s help in locating 2 male German Shepard/Husky mix dogs from Meriden. The family is heartbroken and simply wants their beloved dogs returned home safely.

We are offering two options to the public:
1. Reward for Information Leading to Arrest and conviction.
If someone has information about the whereabouts of the dogs and the identity of the person who currently has them—but that person does not return the dog voluntarily—Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates is offering a $5,000 reward to any individual who provides information leading to an arrest and prosecution for the theft of the dogs. Tips must be reported directly to Meriden Animal Control.
2. No Consequences for Voluntary Return
If the person who currently has the dogs returns them voluntarily to either the family or Meriden Animal Control, there will be no legal consequences. Our only goal is to bring these dogs home.

We urge everyone in the area to share this notice widely. Your help could make the difference in reuniting this family with their missing dogs.

🚨Does anyone recognize this cat??
She was found in the area of 51 Carmel Hill Rd in Woodbury. Unfortunately she bit someone. We need vaccination history ASAP!!! THIS is exactly why we state repeatedly DO NOT touch outdoor cats! If you don't own it, DONT TOUCH IT!! We did scan her for a chip and no chip was found, finding the owner in a timely manner is most important!! Sadly this cat could be paying the ultimate price if not.
Again DO NOT TOUCH OUTDOOR CATS!!
WE NEVER STATED THIS CAT WOULDN'T BE QUARANTINED!
