Ticks! Wherever wildlife goes, they follow. We are seeing an increase in ticks and tick related diseases as the summer goes on. Mild winters are good for us and for ticks unfortunately. Make sure your pet is on a flea/tick preventative year round as we are starting to see ticks active in the winter months as well.

What may seem like a good deal, may cause harm to your pets. Make sure when purchasing any medication online, that you are purchasing from a reputable source. Double check the medications you receive before giving them to your pet. The EPA has some guidelines to follow to ensure the medication you have is safe:

1. Check to make sure that there are directions for the medication in English.
2. The meds should be in a child resistant package.
3. Make sure the product in the container is appropriate for the animal or size of animal pictured on the outside.
4. There should be no stickers hiding foreign language or labeling
Ensure that the EPA registration number is on the box. Usually on the side of back of the container near the companies name.
5. Confirm that the weight on the box is the correct weight range for your pet and the species listed is correct.

Purchasing products online can have risks if not done carefully. We recommend ordering from reputable sources and not just looking for the best deal. When in doubt, the safest option when purchasing medications for your pet is to purchase directly from your veterinarian whether in the clinic or from their online store.
