August 22nd is take your cat to the vet day 🐱
Do you take your cat in to the vet for routine and preventative care? Or do they only come in when they are sick and get reactive care? Prevention can be more cheaper in the long run than reactive care and diagnostics. Plus preventative care can help them live a longer healthier lifespan. They like dogs and humans need regular care. Cats are especially good at hiding stuff until their symptoms are advanced. So regular care and discussions about their health and wellbeing are important in catching things before they start or get too progressed. Plus regular visits are less scary and are easier on them than a once in a lifetime car ride and office visit that might send them into panic mode.
Now doctor visits can be scary regardless for cats so here are some tips to help calm them and ease your visit. You can come by for social visits with them for treats and attention, so that not all visits are scary. Use Feliway spray in their carrier or on a towel in the carrier to help calm them with feel good pheromones. Give them a special treat they don’t typically get in their carrier to make it a happy experience. If concerned we do have oral medication to help calm them for their visits if they have a higher stressed personality. When at the clinic we keep them to certain rooms that dogs are not in or schedule at quieter times to make their visits more peaceful.

Does your pet exhibit any of these symptoms when it rains or there’s bad weather? If so they likely have storm anxiety. It can be common and they can acquire it as they get older. If you answered yes, there are things that you can do for your pet to help calm them. •A Thundershirt can help @thundershirtcompany •Give your pet a calm quiet space to retreat to. •Staying close to your pet to help comfort them. •Storm anxiety medication if necessary- check with your veterinarian on what would be best for your pet. #woodburyanimalhospital #woodburymn #pets #dogs #cats #stormanxiety #storms #vetclinic #thundershirt
