All of our foster dogs are kept as family members until their permanent home is found, therefore we have a small number of dogs available at any one time. Prior to Adoption:
All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, free of internal and external parasites and in good health (as can be reasonably ascertained). They are also tattooed or microchipped so that they can be positi
vely identified and to help them get back home should disaster ever strike. All of our foster dogs have been exposed to children, other dogs and some other pets (as available within our members families). If any problems exist in any of these areas, they are clearly noted in the dog's profile. All of our adoption candidates are socialized to a variety of places, sounds and experiences. We NEVER place any dog that has shown human aggression! (This statement is an absolute when it concerns the Bully breeds. Exceptions may be made for other breeds, depending upon the individual situation.) Each of our foster "kids" has at least a basic grasp of housetraining, crate training and some basic manners prior to adoption. Adoption Policy:
We require an adoption application to be filled out by all prospective adopters. The application requires references and living situation information. When we receive an application, the information is verified, especially landlord approval and vet references. If everything on the application checks out the application is presented to our board of directors for approval. At this point a home visit will be scheduled between a volunteer and the prospective adopter(s). Luckily, volunteers for home visits are available in most areas through other rescue groups and networks. This facilitates adoptions in almost any locality. If all goes well at the home visit, our adoption contract can be signed and arrangements will be made for the lucky pet to join his/her new family. PLEASE do not be offended by any of the questions that are asked during the adoption process. We are not trying to be embarass or offend you -- We are trying to ensure that each adoption is a good match between adoptive family and dog. Each dog has their own unique personality (just like humans), making them better suited to a certain type of home or lifestyle. Our goal is to make the best possible match. It doesn't do anyone (least of all the dog) any good to place the wrong dog in the wrong situation. Then everyone is unhappy and the dog winds up being returned. Don't be dis-heartened if the dog you were initially interested in is not a good fit for your family, it doesn't mean that the perfect dog is not waiting for you.
*PLEASE NOTE: We do not place dogs as outside only pets or as guard dogs.
