Now available: CAUSATIVE ✨
Causative is an incredibly special gelding who is now available for adoption as a companion horse.
Cause is a 2018 gelding who was sold for $20,000 at the Ocala Breeder's Sale in 2020. Cause had 1 recorded workout at Del Mar later that year as a 2 year old, but then disappeared from the racing scene.
In the spring of this year, he reappeared at a feedlot in Southern California. He had a large open wound over the point of his right shoulder as well as an untreated corneal ulcer. His coat was unkempt, his hooves overgrown, and dreads in his mane. Thankfully, a generous group of people sponsored his veterinary care, "bail", quarantine, and shipment in order to donate him to CANTER California's adoption program.
He has healed and enjoyed a long summer of being doted on by his volunteers. While he is not going to be a candidate for having a second career as a sport horse, we believe his perfect person is out there somewhere. Causative is an extremely kind horse, despite all that he has been through. His people often forget that he is only 5 years old because he is such an even-keyed guy. He is outgoing, loves to be social (so gregarious!), and picks up on groundwork quickly. Carrots and his hay ball are his absolute favorite. He also knows how to "smile" on command! He reminds us on a daily basis just how kind and forgiving horses are.
Serious inquiries will be provided medical records and more information about his limitations. Causative is cleared for pasture and should be able to live a long, happy life as a companion horse. He enjoys the company of other horses and also does well in a stall. His vet team thinks he also has potential to be a light riding horse, but we would ideally like to find him a home that doesn’t have any expectations of him. This guy will be your best friend. ❤️
